Where... am I?

That was the only though that rang through Zan's head. It was the only thought that could fit with the sharp pain of a migraine taking up the remainder of his cognizance. He gripped the sides of his head, sitting up with his eyes squeezed shut.

It took a while for the head pain to die down, at least enough for him to finally open his eyes and take in his surrounds. Nothing looked familiar. In fact, there wasn't anything at all besides a platform of colors below him and a ominously purple portal with black energy coursing through it behind him.

He rose, as fast as he could with his staggered consciousness, darting and diving for the portal, but to no avail. He fell, stomach first, to the ground as the portal of arcane energy snapped closed right before he could reach it.

"Unfortunate!"

He grumbled, sitting up again and vigorously scratching at his head. He stood, dusting himself off.

At the point of ambiguity among a land between worlds rose and stood the newcomer to the foreign land. Where he stood was upon one of the Plexus points of the Veritas, which he'd been gathered upon after being drawn from the outer reaches of the beyond, wherever and whatever that may have entailed. The shifting colors of the land rolled over the surface of the hovering platform in the depths of space, illuminating what would otherwise be pitch darkness with the light of the spectrum.

Before too long, a welcoming, womanly voice spoke out from the elements of the area -- as it was customary for both foreigners and newcomers. "Hello," she spake to the foreign man, "Welcome To The Veritas." The voice resounded with a lofty echo throughout all the empty expanse of vast space, though it would sound like a normal tone before the one being addressed.

"What Is Your Name?" the voice asked, as if standard protocol, "And What Brings You Here?"

Zanphanis took a little more time to take in his surrounds, to gather the scope of what was going on. He tried to remember what, exactly, he was doing before this and what events transpired that got him here. To this place that seemed to teeter out in the middle of the stars.

If he remembered correctly, he was helping out in a magic shop. While moving a couple of artifacts, they activated on their own and began feeding off one another. He got caught in a weird phenomenon that knocked him unconscious and he woke up here.

He was taken aback by the sudden disembodied voice that spoke out to himself in this dubious space. He got defensive, hesitant to actually answer the voice, no matter how friendly and welcoming the voice might sound. Demons always used their charisma to charm unsuspecting souls into doing their bidding.

"What is the Veritas?" He finally replied, looking around to see if there was an sign of where the voice had come from, "Am I dead?"

The sound of the voice of the wandering Foreigner rippled before him as he inquired about the Veritas, the ambiguous air around him parting as a rift into what looked to be a sifting portal to another realm. The ground beneath his feet reacted to this world by blending with it at the opening, forming a path for him whilst the parting remained open.

He hadn't answered the voice, and so it left him and a portal to an ambiguous location open before him, should he step through. He would be able to visibly see the Veritas from outside the portal and what went on in the land as a visual screen passing him by. Whatever passed him by would be a part of the Veritas to jump into at his leisure, should he decide to.

Zanphanis was immediately left alone.

Zanphanis stood around and waited for a reply from the disembodied voice. Delirious and unsure of the circumstances that got him here, he was wary. The echoing of his own inquiries didn't help with the half-elf's feelings of doubt. Zan couldn't even be sure if what he remembered happen was actually the case and he hadn't been killed and this was some sort of realm of the gods. "Heaven" as he remembered folks of religious ilk calling it; Clerics, Paladins, Clergymen and the like. His particular monastery didn't believe in such things, but he wasn't so devoutly set on those views.

"No reply? Perhaps I only imagined the voice in the first place." The half-elf said before he felt the ground beneath him begin to rumble and a new dubious portal opened before him. The border-less expanse began shifting and morphing into a linear path, which seemed to want to usher him forward.

Instead, Zanphanis look around for his bag that held his belongings. A few survival tools that could aid him if this weren't a hospitable place. He had been living on his own for a while, adventuring, and these essentials were a blessing to have on the nights when he couldn't find an inn or tavern.

Zan's bag was fairly close by. It laid just before where the purplish portal that dropped him off had spawned and vanished, a few of his belongings strewn across the ground around it. He gathered them up quickly, as not to lose them, especially a set of ornate writing utensils, and repacked the bag tight before he turned around.

He eyed to portal before him, suspiciously "Perhaps I truly am dead." Zanphanis whispered softly, because the lands that the portal laid bare before him had an otherworldly glow to them. If the religious folk's realm of God truly existed, then this is what, he imagined, they thought it looked like.

With the glimpse that the portal provided, he could... guess, maybe, there were different lands. Many looked odd, foreign in their construction to him. The only one that made sense was one of lush greenery. Naturalistic, but not so fresh as to not have a few dots of civilization.

If the portal was telling him to enter, he touched it. It felt like touching the cool surface of still water. It rippled outward from where his fingers cautiously grazed it, and he dove in at the image of it's most densely verdant steppe. The land was different from the desertous mountain ranges he'd known as a child, and savage frontier he'd come to love on his way to Waterdeep. However, there was a mild sense of familiarity.

='Tyranophant'=
"Zip." As soon as the man stepped inside of the portal, the Dimension Gate he was unwary of closed behind him.

He was off somewhere.

Meanwhile, the Tyranophant, the actual Gatekeeper of the Dimension Gate appeared where the gateway was once opened, inverting himself out of it as Zanphanis entered the Veritas -- which was essentially the Tyranophant's body. "This'll be fun. I'mma check this guy out and see if he's any fun. Heh." Yeah. "Just Because I Feel Like It And I Can, And It Is Unquestionable." He smirked. Much of this would occur now that he was on duty back at the Dimension Gate. "I mean, he did step into my body, after all." Unfortunately, the Tyranophant was in an estranged mood, so it happened to bleed into what he did and what happened in the Veritas as a symbiotic harmony with himself and all who he was as a living being. When he felt some type of way, the entire Veritas felt something. "No more visitors for Daughter Veritas today. Only Father Tymon." Now, Zanphanis was brought to the green pastures of a different location, and not upon the Veritas Planet. He would arrive in the Forbidden territory that was completely different section from the Veritas Planet entirely. "She is undergoing some necessary 'Maintenance.' Heh. Heh heh." The Tyranophant chuckled, thinking about all the fun things that were going to go on that he got to watch from beyond.

"I wanna do something, too. I might just tag along behind bro here and see what he's up to..." He was going to have to start running his escort service again, if visitors were showing up here and there. The Veritas never dealt with foreigners. All the people that lived here were born here. "Wouldn't want anyone trampling on important things, like swine. But, if it does happen..." The Tyranophant's eyes and fangs gleamed with a restrained look. He faded away snickering under his breath.
