Ever since whatever happened long ago with Dr. Money and also all of the traffic thanks to the Titans having appeared, the Valparaiso Denizens were living the life of drinks and drugs all the day long. Though they didn't appreciate the idea of anyone encroaching on their territory, they had enough money to defend themselves at least against social and economic attacks, which were mostly the name of the game. Especially with limited power or supernatural capacity.
The lot of them were pretty all over the place, since no one really knew the extent of what the Valparaiso Denizens really were up to. They were very keen about their secrecy and privacy, and were actually quite adept at stealth based on their living circumstances. They were savvy on plenty of other things, but none more than sheer lawlessness, even if it meant sometimes pretending like they were following a law just to break it at its core.
This was honestly the best that the Lawless Land had ever been, and plenty of them forgot about their deep-seated desires to get to the Mainland, which was supposedly so much better, and was like heaven, or at least paradise. Those were the stories, and most of them never ever saw that place, or knew what it looked like in the slightest. The Veritas' Mainland was only something of their wildest imaginations -- it was like an unattainable heaven they could see, but never reach.
Before, this bothered them, but with all the gains in their own realm, they didn't care at all. They couldn't care any less, because they had everything they want, thanks to that Dr. Money. There was no reason for them to leave, nor to want to. Even if this was something to keep them there, it didn't matter, because it's exactly what they wanted. Why should someone paying them to be where they wanted be anything but a come-up? It only is if you follow some sort of... Personal law that defines a pride inside of you.
A pride that didn't matter at all in the Lawless Land.
This was their greatest victory, and now, even the Lawless Land was paradise. Even if they only lived a day and died doing whatever they wanted, they will have still lived to the fullest that they could for only that day. That's all they really cared about -- anarchic freedom, completely unrestrained.
So they indulged in everything the criminal life could offer. Out in the streets, streetboxin to death, or in the house, smoking, drinking, and chilling. Whatever it was, this was the life they wanted.
This... This was heaven. They realized this, and they accepted it. For people like them? This was exactly the heaven they asked for, and they weren't about to look a gift-horse in the mouth.
Not when there was so much life to live recklessly and lawlessly. There was no time to even think about things like that, which were trivial now. The only time it was... Was to turn up.
