Mirror Mirror

Subject: Mirror Mirror Sun Oct 04, 2015 8:11 pm

She was stepping toward a smokey light. She was shielding her eyes from it but it didn't help. The light only got brighter until it exploded around her. The loud ringing in her head annoyed her as her sight began to adjust. She was now looking at herself, the only difference was the color of her eyes. They were white and clear like crystals. She raised her hand and waved it in the air. Her reflection repeated the movement. She began to shake and spin only to see that the reflection was moving with her in perfect sync. She stared back at herself waiting for a difference. This was unusual. She drifted into a slight thought process because last time the reflection spoke to her.

A voice spoke and said, "You belong in the Veritas."

Her eyes snapped back up at her reflection with a look of uncertainty. Her reflection didn't make the same expression so she replied, "My mother and grandmother said that it's not just somewhere I can enter. I have to ask permission & when I go, I have to stay until I'm done. What type of place are you sending me?" My reflection smiled.

"I am not sending you anywhere. Only reminding you of where you really want to be. The only way you'll unlock us is if you go to the Crystal Realm. You know you weren't born here, so go to where you belong"

"How do you know I belong there? I haven't even asked permission and--"

"Aella, I know all the things you don't & the time is now. You don't need permission because they're waiting for you to come back. Trust me... Trust us."

"Aella? And come back? I've never-"

The reflection reached out and put her hand on Nani's heart and pushed through her. Merging themselves, a light began to burst through her body. She began to whimper and move around because she could feel the adrenaline and energy piercing through herself. It hurt so bad that she began to scream. The sound vibrations echoed through her head causing black spots to blur her vision. It wasn't long before she completely blacked out and there was nothing but silence.

The world closed in around her; an all enveloping consciousness that synchronized with her own... As if in a dream. By the time she would awake, she would be within the boundary of the Veritas, but as of now, she was in the ambiguity of when her journey would begin and where. The Veritas was with her, but wouldn't acknowledge her directly until it was clear that the young lady was coherent and capable of hearing the words of the realm around her. She would be able to feel the presence of something or someone with her upon her wake, however... As though they were right in front of her, yet unable to be seen.

She awoke from her slumber with a thumping in her head and heat surging through her body. She tried to open her eyes but her eyelids were very heavy on her face. 'What the hell' she thought. She could never wake up like a normal person. Stretching slowly, she raised her hand and slapped herself across the face. Her eyes began to flutter and when they opened she could see nothing but a blur. Blinking a couple of times she could finally make out the little stars shining above her. "Where am I?...wait who's there?" She jumped up in her stance, ready to fight. She could feel a strong presence surrounding her but no one was there. "Please, show yourself. I am in no mood for games. I have things to do"

"Geko..." a small voice croaked from the distance, a soft silhouette fading in and out like a mirage, "... You are aware of my existence...?" It was more difficult to be atmospheric than she thought. The stars that were seen would be the twinkling gaze of gleaming eyes in the distance suddenly coming into focus, the universe's awareness becoming more visible before her. "... Aw." A froggish face hazily formed from the elements around the woman, yet was not able to be fully distinguished. "What is it you are trying to get accomplished? I am here to guide you to where you need to go."

"What do I want to accomplish? I am trying to find my birthplace so I can know who I am and what is inside me. But that's not really your business. Who are you? & why are you asking me these questions? I am trying to find the crystal realm. Do you know where that is? because I am lost and this does not look like the island I grew up on" She decided to just begin her journey instead of going home to aimlessly search for answers and guides. "...on second thought, how on earth did I get here? Last thing I remember is talking to my reflection, she touched me." she was thinking aloud more so than talking to the silhouette before her. She slightly forgot it was there but the energy was so strong in the air that she couldn't. "& I'm not crazy so please, ignore what I just said. State your identity, please. My name is Nani." No, it's Aella. A tiny voice in the back of her mind stated. 'Oh, please' she mentally stated back sounding exasperated.

The vague image seemed to comprehend the sayings of the young lady, shifting form all the while she was talking. "... Calm down..." the voice said, keeping them stable in this transitional phase, "... You're already in the Crystal Realm. I am the Crystal Realm, known as 'The Veritas.'" The voice also seemed to shift from how it was once speaking before, having altered more now to match the voice of the newcomer. From her description, the image before her would start to replicate as she insisted had been before, starting with the mirror that she had once been looking into. "I brought you here," the reflection would say, shifting and adjusting to fit her appearance more correctly. "When one wishes to be rescued from the woes of beyond... We extend one of our many hands... And reach out to whomever calls for us with their mind or heart." Whatever reason this person was here for, it was not simply of the Veritas' will alone, even if neither of them knew so. "What is your name?" her reflection asked her, gazing into her with a face of absolute perfection to the person looking in. "Nani? or Aella? Or, something else?" It was almost like starting off on an adventure in a video game. At least, that's how the setting seemed to appear in this ambiguous realm.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she began to breathe slowly and calmly. 'So this is the crystal realm? hmm. Explains all the stars...but she heard her in my head...who is she, their God? Am I to journey inside her?' she thought. The silhouette before her was not a threat but the exact person she had been looking for all along. She could see her now but she was no longer a silhouette, she was a reflection in a mirror. Nani began to state her name but when the words formed in her mouth, a feeling of uncertainty washed over her. "I do not know my name... the one I was born with that is. My brother named me Nani when I was adopted. Lady Veritas please help me discover who I am and how to control this strange power. I'm desperate." Nani dropped to her knees in a position of prayer, stretching her energy and aura as far and wide as she could so that the woman could feel her need.

The Veritas, finding that there was discomfort in the ability to peer into the minds and souls of others being recognized by the newcomer, would refrain from alerting her about doing so after that. The thoughts of the new woman would be kept from exposure. "You do not know who you are?" the reflection of the woman asked curiously, "Then, perhaps you will find yourself as you venture out. That is what this land is made to do. To help others to 'Know Thyself.'" It was fortunate that this lost girl stumbled upon this realm, then. "The Veritas will help you on this journey to find yourself... But you must first decide where you'd like to begin." Every journey, including the one to the self, started with a destination. "There are many ways to start, but that is all up to your thoughts and your feelings. If your heart desires a place full of green trees, or a big city, or an ocean, or even the stars... The Veritas will take you to where your heart desires to have you begin your journey there. The more descriptive the image is in your head, and the more vivid it becomes in your mind, the world around you will shift to match that image."

Nani rose her torso from the ground in her kneeling position and stretched her arms out. She looked up at the stars and then closed her eyes. Thinking of her home island, picturing nature all around her. Green trees, gardens and flowers, water in the distance. She could smell the trees and feel the moist air on her face already. 'I do my best thinking around mother nature, take me there... take me here' she thought as she put all her heart and feeling into visualizing herself in a forest.

"As you wish..." the reflection said again, as the mirror began to expand outward before Nani and become wide, like a door into another world. On the opposite side of the ambiguous darkness, within the confines of the now portal-like mirror, would be a forest of extreme green and great, tall trees that nearly blocked out the light of the sun completely. The trees were so tall and so thick, it would seem that they went on endlessly into the sky and their branches converged as a rooftop above, so to speak. There were many smaller trees and a river within, but the largest trees remained most prominent. There were wild flowers around every so often, nothing like a meadow, but a simple congregation every here and there. The air was still and quiet, like the night.

"This is the Great Forest of the Veritas," the voice of the Veritas spoke as the image she had taken as Nani's reflection faded away. "It is the largest forest in the Veritas, but not the only forest. Are you prepared to step into this world and see what awaits you here? I will be your guide."

"As you wish..." the reflection in the mirror said and Nani looked up in shock to see it expanding and changing to the size of a large door. She could see and smell the tall green trees. They were so high up that it was hard for her to see the sky. 'I wonder how long it would take to climb one.... or if I could even do such a thing' she thought. Almost afraid to step through the portal, the tiny voice in the back of her head said 'Whatcha waiting for girl? Hop to it. We've got a long journey ahead of us. She then took a cautious step towards the portal and put her arm through. A brief feeling of euphoria flew through her veins and sucked her inside of the new place that she was to discover.
