Brainstorming & Conceptualization (Homework)

Create a spider diagram for the project (10pts), then, using the words that you came up with, create lists of any items that are similar in nature (10pts). Based off of these lists, create a 17”x11” collage/mood board of found images (from magazines, newspapers, catalogs, packaging…) to describe your design. Refer to form, color, texture, detailing, functionality, environment and emotional response. (10pts)

Once your collage/mood board is complete, create a minimum of 20 black and white sketches that explore different design options/directions for your project. Make sure to annotate your sketches with your thought process/ideas. (20pts)

Make sure to photograph/document all of your mind mapping, lists, mood boards, and sketches. You will be developing a process book, that documents everything associated with each of your projects, as the final deliverable for the course.

Digital Iterations - 1

Based off of the critique/feedback that you received in class, take two or three of your concept sketches and begin to experiment with them in illustrator.

Play with scale and orientation, positive and negative space, word marks, letter marks, symbols… do multiple variations of each concept until you have 30 variations total.

Begin developing your basic graphic standards for your logo concepts…minimum size use, and exclusion area for the various layouts and logo elements you've developed (word mark, letter mark, combination mark…)
