Final Project

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

The final project is intended to expose students to project management using computer technology tools already learned in the course. The final presentation is intended to have students synthesize course topics and the components of a real-world example of project management.

PARAMETERS AND EXPECTATIONS

Imagine you are the project manager responsible for creating and managing a website for one of your favorite bands. It is your job to come up with a list of prioritized items that you want the website to include, as well as, define the tasks that are involved in completing said items. On top of all that, you need to plan out and schedule each task so they are completed on time, and write a formal Request for Proposal outlining one of the tasks for a particular item on the website.

Your final project will be broken down into 3 parts, utilizing the three main Microsoft applications we covered throughout the course. You will create:

A Product Backlog and a Sprint Backlog using Microsoft Excel
A Request for Proposal document using Microsoft Word
A Presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint

Part A)-Excel--Due 12/5/2017

DELIVERABLE

Post your finished PowerPoint presentation to Blackboard, along with the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and RFP. You can post them separately, but be sure to clearly define the file name for each submission. You may also submit all the documents as one compressed ZIP file.

Part 1 Excel
Download the “Product/Sprint Backlog Templates” file. Using the templates, create a Product Backlog using Microsoft Excel. You will come up with 10 items you want to include in the Band’s website and rank them according to their level of importance. For instance, a rank of “1” will indicate the item as most important and “10” will be the least. For your items, think in terms of what customers or visitors want most when going on your website. Do they want to know more about the band? Buy merchandise? Find tour dates? You can also research existing band websites to get a better idea of what you want to include. Your Product Backlog should consist of the item, a short summary of the Item, the rank, and the effort level of completing the item (high, medium, low).
Using the Templates, create a Sprint Backlog using Microsoft Excel. For your Sprint Backlog, take the top 3 items from your Product Backlog and come up with 2 tasks needed to complete each item. For instance, if one of your items is “Develop a Group Bio,” a task might be to “add graphics of the band.” Also, you will have a 2-week time period to complete the 3 items. Manage your time by setting start and finish dates for your each task within the 2-week time frame.

Part 2 Word
Using Microsoft Word, you will write a 1-2 page Request for Proposal (RFP) outlining the details of one task from your Sprint Backlog. It should be broken up into 4 parts. Be sure to include the following:
1. Purpose, or mission statement, of the overall website. What is the purpose of the website?
2. Background, or history, of the band
3. Work requirements for the specified task.
a. Describe the task and its importance to the website
b. How will the task be accomplished?
c. What is the time frame?
4. Work Qualifications for the task
a. What skills are needed to complete the task?
Be as detailed as possible explaining everything a vendor, or possible candidate, may need to know about the task.
You RFP should include:
1. Cover Page (Title and Name)
2. Header
3. Table of Contents
4. At least 4 headings using Microsoft Styles

Part 3 PowerPoint
Using Microsoft PowerPoint, create a well thought out presentation describing the process of your project. Your presentation should be professional and creative as if you were going to present your project to your client. The presentation should include:
1. Summary of the Project / Mission Statement
2. Summary of the tools you used (Excel, Word) and how you used them to organize your project
3. Address why you chose to break up the item the way you did in your Product Backlog.
a. What was your decision process?
b. Explain how you ranked your items
4. Summarize your research and thinking behind your RFP
5. Finally, What did you learn in doing this project?
Your presentation should have:
1. A creative background or template
2. At least 2 bulleted lists
3. At least 1 SmartArt list
4. At least 1 animation
5. At least 3 images or graphics
Post your finished PowerPoint presentation to Blackboard, along with the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and RFP. You can post them separately, but be sure to clearly define the file name for each submission. Remember to be creative and have fun. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Setup a page to host content of the blog
