After the Mechanica refurbished the Lawless Land, Rue, and mechanized the dilapidated city of lawlessness -- Valhalla -- they continued to expand whilst systematically weeding out the interlopers toward the industrialization and gentrification that came along simultaneously.

Thus, they were casually wiped out.

The mechanical city that grew from a Mechanical Village became independent of the Lawless Land and basically also the synchronous Utopia and Dystopia for all of the Valparaiso Denizens of the Lawless Land, Valparaiso (Rue). It was what they would have looked like if they perfected their own law and order, but because they did not and disagreed with each other so much, the natural order of the protocol of machines became its own law, its own land and its own domain of proper recognition, thus disallowing anything improper or illegal -- which most Valparaiso Denizens were.
