Shapeshifter List Shapes10

Shapeshifters are a race of beings that can take on any appearance they desire and are known as "shadow people". Although their true forms are unknown, they are said to be quite eldritch. It is believed they are related to a being called the "Faceless God".

Shapeshifters are a species that, as their name suggests, are able to change their shape and form at will, be it physically, spiritually, through magic, etc. The most commonly known Shapeshifters tend to also be Mimics, as Mimics tend to assume the form of items in order to trick their prey. Many Shapeshifters catch their targets like this, by shifting into something they like or want and then capturing or consuming them. Many of them are known to turn into harmless creatures or beings of the same race in order to lure others into tight situations to ensure they cannot escape. They are typically very intelligent, sly, cunning and underhanded, and most are adept in the ways of magic and chakra, as well. More powerful Shapeshifters are able to assume the form of larger or more intricate things with finer detail, and may replicate anything simply by memory. Some are even known to have the power to change the shape of other things besides themselves. Some are known to forget their previous or original forms and either assume life as what they have become or continue to shift and not be able to control or remember, losing recognition and becoming pure existence.

To be sure that they do not forget the forms that they shed, whether as to recall for later or so they do not become it again, they will save the discarded forms they like the most, and sometimes put them on display or show them off, if the form is especially sentimental. After a certain level of experience, they undergo one or many forms of metamorphosis. The greatest of their metamorphoses are transcendental, and they tend to take on the forms of abstract or general, malleable, formless entities.

Mimic Info

A creature that takes the form of objects and creates isolated dimensions within them to hide in and take in objects from all over. Mimics may be one of the most difficult creatures to understand. They simply hide out in their isolated dimensions and wait for things to either fall in or for things to be snatched up by getting too close to it. Unlike the Mimic type, Charybdis, all the dimensions of the typical Mimic are not connected, but indeed isolated for only their existence. No one really knows what a Mimic really is, only that it takes a liking to the form of items.

Mimics come in all shapes and forms, but the common ones love to resemble chests and containers. They are completely able to hide their own life from the eyes of any being, perfectly copying an inanimate object. This is because their true forms do not exist as the item, but in the isolated dimension within, hidden from detection. If the object which the entrance to the portal is within is destroyed, the Mimic cannot return to this world the same way, and must find another empty, closed container to set up the portal to its isolated dimension. Many believe the Mimics to be the isolated dimensions, themselves, and there is nothing proven that such is not true. There are some Mimics that take the form of pure energy, Mimicking other life forms.

They fortify these containers to the point where one would think it nearly indestructible, but there are means to get rid of it. One just has to find the right way. Mimics of all kind seem to be very greedy and always take possession of the rarest items, or may ask for an item just to get it off of your back.

Mimics also love to eat everything and trap them in isolation forever. When consumed by a Mimic, no one knows how to get out. Some believe it came to be as what one would consider a 'pocket dimension' gaining its own will. Where one would normally put an infinite number of items within their own personal pocket dimension, when it stopped, it hungered still for more items. Now, to fill that void, the Mimic was born, and the very void itself consumes, ever trying to fill up a space which cannot be filled. It generates the energy it needs to live by filtering and condensing Myst from the air.

Mimics are a race of beings that are able to change their shape and appearance; disguising their bodies as inanimate objects (commonly a chest), in order to lure and capture prey.

Thought to have been magically created by wizards in mythology, Mimics were thought to be subterranean creatures due to their sensitive visual receptors. They were able to perfectly mimic the appearance of stone or wood and thusly posed as items such as stonework, doors, or chests. When the intended prey touches the disguised mimic, it would either lash out with a bludgeoning pseudopod or entrap the prey with numerous appendages to constrict them before dragging the victim into its body to devour. Mimics also excrete an adhesive glue to hold fast to their prey or to hold fast to a specific surface (say a wall or roof) while waiting for prey or during travel.

Shapeshifter List Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shapeshifter List   Shapeshifter List EmptyFri Dec 24, 2021 5:40 pm

Roper

Ropers are vicious shapeshifting mimics often mistaken for naturally-occurring environments or beings. Typical Ropers are also known to dwell in caves and appear as stalactites or stalagmites, though they are also commonly found above ground disguised themselves as dead tree trunks. When having mimicked an inanimate object, the insidious roper remains completely immobile until prey draws near. When the unsuspecting victim is close enough, the creature springs to life and entraps its prey using a multitude of rope-like tentacles. These appendages sap the victim of its strength and draw it towards the Roper's mouth for consumption.

Despite their monstrous hunger and gluttonous natures, Ropers are intelligent and observant. In the time between feedings, they learn about their surrounding environments and contemplate whatever location they are existing in as whichever structure. Though it is most commonly found in forms that are normally immobile, like itself, it is known to mature into other forms if it is born into locations which bear organic life. It will imitate the form of other living beings and then consume them, unleashing its ravenous tentacles when it has them completely alone. It almost never attacks a group collectively.

Ropers are a kind of parasitic monstergirl, formed the symbiosis of a human woman with a "roper egg". At the beginning of a roper infection, the tentacles have a mind of their own, and stir their host up into sexual frenzy. As monsterization progresses, the host and the parasite seem to mind-meld into a single consciousness, although now irrevocably corrupted to the monsters' love of sex.

As parasites, ropers are one of the few monsters (others being the alraune, matango, and slimes) who don't go through pregnancy, since their reproductive cycle involves messing around with other women's wombs. This means they are partial - obliged, even - to engage in some girl-on-girl lovin' to propagate the species. Alternatively, Tentacle Forest can turn regular women to ropers if any are foolhardy enough to venture in there.

Strange monsters that have a human upper body and gelatinous lower body, like that of a slime, from which long tentacles grow. It has been suspected that they may be a variety of plant type monster but the truth is uncertain. Actually, they were not originally monsters to begin with and their form is the result of them parasitically infecting human women and fusing with them.

Ropers start out appearing as egg-like, shell-covered, spherical objects; adult ropers seize human women with their tentacles and shove their ovipositer tentacle into the human's vagina to implant these "roper eggs". A Roper egg implanted inside a human women will soon sprout like a plant, extending a small tentacle. It will spread it's roots in the host women's womb and fuse with her. A Roper parasite will then remake the host's body from within. The host's lower body will change to become gelatinous like that of a slime and numerous tentacles will appear from there.

In this manner, ropers make their tentacles crawl over the host's body to prepare her to receive a man and lure him in.
During the Roper's larval stage the host will retain her human consciousness as is, but because the fusion between the Roper and it's host is incomplete the tentacle's will ignore the host's will and wriggle around doing whatever they please. In order for a Roper to grow into adulthood the semen of a human man is required. So when the tentacles moving on their own sense a man's presence, they will entwine all over the host's body; tentacles wrapping around the breasts will rub them quite roughly; others will violate the host's mouth, spitting out large volumes of thick, sweet mucus (which will arouse her wildly) and still others inserted into the vagina will stir it up while making alluring wet noises. This will cause her to cry out alluringly in ecstasy and lure the man.

After enticing a man in this fashion, when he draws near and takes the bait, he'll be seized by the tentacles and have the semen milked out of him. After ingesting a man's semen, a roper will grow rapidly and completely fuse with its host.

A ex-human that became an "adult roper" in this manner will have become one with it, so she'll be able to control the tentacles with her own will as if they were her own arms and legs.

However, after having been violated all over her body by tentacles, she'll become mentally deranged by the pleasure and her way of thinking will change into that of a monster that desires even stronger pleasure and seeks human men. She'll make her tentacles crawl all over herself and churn her body even more violently and obscenely than they did when they were moving on their own, in an effort to excite carnal desire in a man. Once a man approaches, she'll use her tentacles to draw him near and guide him to her vagina. This time it won't just be the tentacles milking out the semen as in the larval stage. They'll use the tentacles and all of their own body for sex, and obtain semen. Also, after becoming an adult, the sensations of the host and the tentacles are shared, so the stimulation the tentacles receive is all translated to the host as pleasure. Afterward, by obtaining even more semen from the man she captured, she'll produce a new "roper egg", and will attack a human women and implant the egg in her vagina in order to propagate her race. This is the manner in which the ropers multiply.

When a roper larva sprouts, if a women is wearing clothing, then somehow even the clothing ends up being recognized as part of her body and it too will become a part of her melted jelly-like body. Ropers have an extremely powerful regenerative ability and even if the main body and the tentacles are damaged, they will return to normal after a short time. Women who become ropers while wearing clothing as described above can melt the clothing according to the will of the host when having sex with a man. It's possible for them to expose their naked human body or keep it covered as usual but either way it will be treated as damage and when they're done having sex with a man the clothes will regenerate exactly back to their original state.

Lash - Whips tentacles violently.

Sweep: A powerful sweeping force to take down whatever is in the way of its tentacles.

Silence: Seals the voice of a foe to make them Silenced.

Nightvision - Ropers can see perfectly in darkness and low-light.

Drain - The roper's tentacles can drain the strength of its victims.

Strands - Ropers can spit strands of sticky saliva to entrap potential prey.

Weakness: Fire

Immunities: Petrify, Confuse, Berserk, Vanish.

Blue Magic Learned: Death.

Item Dropped: Peridot.

Shapeshifter List Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shapeshifter List   Shapeshifter List EmptyTue Dec 28, 2021 3:19 pm

Coin

A race of Monster related to the Mimic. Similar to the conventional Mimic, who hide themselves inside treasure chests to ambush unsuspecting human men, Creeping Coins outright masquerade as mountains of valuable, golden coins waiting for a greedy man to find them. This is made easier thanks to a unique type of charm magic they employ; any greed a man feels towards their coins will inflame the man's lust towards them. Ergo the greedier a man is, the more lustful he becomes.
While Creeping Coins cannot actually produce genuine currency, their counterfeit coins are not as worthless as one might think; these coins are infused with the same type of charm magic the Creeping Coins themselves employ. Thus, many other single monsters will pay a handsome sum for these counterfeit coins in an attempt to seduce greedy men themselves.

A type of mimic which has a shapeshifting ability. They masquerade as mountains of coins, sacks stuffed full of them, etc., and lie in wait for human male prey. They basically appear in places visited by adventurers and tomb raiders such as old castles, towers, and the like, but there are reports of them rarely managing to sneak even into places such as national treasuries.

They reveal their true forms when men who fall for the trap touch or approach their disguised body.

At this time, part of the mountain of gold coins will suddenly change into a monster with a woman's form, but men do not appear to be startled or bewildered by it. The reason why is that they have the power to tie men's "lust for money" directly to lust towards themselves. In other words, once a man has been charmed by the mountain of gold, even if it suddenly changes into a monster, he'll still look upon her as being the same as the mountain of gold he insatiably lusts for. Thus, the dazzling glimmer of gold coins is itself employed exactly as is by these monsters, as a charm to lure men. For instance, even if a man were to notice their true form before touching it, that wouldn't be reason enough to stop in his tracks or turn back, and he would still be drawn to them. If tempted by one of these girls spreading her legs, a man would probably get on top, give in to desire, and thrust his penis inside without the slightest hesitation.

The stronger the lust for money, the stronger the lust towards them, and in addition, once a man has copulated with one of these girls, he'll become highly possessive towards her, just as he is greedy with his money, and he'll start thinking that he never wants to lose her. In other words, it tends to be the case that the more avaricious the man, the more he'll smother her in love.

In response to that passion, sex with a creeping coin sates two desires, bringing about a powerful sense of satisfaction both mentally and physically. As a result, their husbands will end up prioritizing sex with them whenever feeling greedy, which is often interpreted by the people around them as a steep drop in greed; however, the scholarly consensus is that the actual magnitude of a man's desires only swells more and more as he continues to have sex with a monster, and it's just that his desires are sufficiently satisfied.

Furthermore, the coins that swirl about them like an adornment even after revealing their true form are actually materialized via their own mana, and it is plainly obvious that they are counterfeit if compared to currency in actual circulation; however, they aren't merely illusions or what not with no actual substance. Known as "mamono realm gold" they are made of metal with actual physical substance that has the power to fan the flames of desire in humans who behold the glimmer. Due to that property, these coins are treasured by many monsters and fetch high prices on the market.

Those simply looking to make a living, those seeking to live the life of luxury, and their ilk mostly have their desires sated by obtaining a creeping coin and copulating with her day and night, but on the other hand, others may need the money to pay for expensive medicine to treat a disease, or for some other purpose, and in such cases, the mamono realm gold they are able to produce by receiving large amounts of essence usually makes enough money when sold. Fake treasures, they may be, but you don't necessarily come up bust when you get one.

Botamochi bakemono
ぼた餅化け物
ぼたもちばけもの

Translation: botamochi monster
Habitat: underneath floorboards
Diet: unknown

Appearance: Botamochi bakemono are audio phenomena which come from underneath a house’s floorboards. It gets its name from botamochi, a sweet made from sticky rice covered in brown azuki paste.

Behavior: Botamochi bakemono are sound mimics. They prank people by copying the voices of people who live in the house.

Origin: Botamochi bakemono appears in Tachibana Nankei’s 1797 book Tōyūki, a collection of local tales collected from villages around Japan.

Legends: Long ago, at a certain farmer’s house in the village of Shinjō (present-day Sabae, Fukui Prefecture) a strange voice was heard. The voice came from underneath the floorboards, and repeated everything that was said in the house. Everyone in the house was shaken up. They tore up the floorboards to see who was playing a prank on them, but nobody was there.

Rumors about the strange voice spread amongst the neighborhood. A group of young men gathered in the farmer’s house to test the phenomenon. Sure enough, anytime one of them spoke, a voice from under the floorboards repeated back whatever they said.

They tried to guess the source of the voice. One of them called out: “You’re an old tanuki, aren’t you?”

“I am no tanuki!”

Another young man took a guess: “I know! You’re a kitsune!”

“I am no kitsune!”

One by one, they took turns guessing what kind of yōkai it was.

“You’re a neko (cat)!”

“An itachi!”

“A kappa!”

“A kawauso!”

“An ugoromochi (mole)!”

The voice answered no to all of them.

Finally, one of the young men called out half-jokingly, “All right then, you’re a botamochi!”

The voice replied: “That’s right. I am a botamochi.”

After that the mysterious voice was referred to as a botamochi bakemono. News of it traveled throughout the village and eventually reached the castle. A number of government officials were sent to investigate. They spent the night at the farmer’s house and called out to the botamochi bakemono, but the strange voice remained silent for the while night.

After the government officials left, the voice once again began to repeat everything that the villagers said. Time and time again, government officials were dispatched to the house, but each time they visited, the botamochi bakemono remained silent. Eventually they had to give up and close their investigation.

About one month after the investigation was officially closed, the mysterious voice ceased altogether. It was never heard again.

Hakuzōsu
白蔵主
はくぞうす

Translation: a priest’s name (literally “white storehouse keeper”)

Appearance: Hakuzōsu is the name of a monk, as well as the kitsune who transformed into the priest and stole his identity. The story has been adapted many times over the centuries, with the names, places, and other details changing across different adaptations. Ehon hyaku monogatari places the story in Yamanashi Prefecture, at the base of Mount Atago. The kyōgen theater piece Tsurigitsune is based on a 14th century version of this story from Shōrinji, a temple in Sakai, Osaka.

Legends: Long ago lived a trapper named Yasaku. He made his living by trapping foxes and selling their pelts in the market. An old, silver furred kitsune lived in the mountains where Yasaku worked. He had lost his friends and family members, one by one, to Yasaku’s traps until only he remained. He decided he would teach the trapper a lesson.

The kitsune knew that Yasaku’s uncle was a monk named Hakuzōsu. The kitsune disguised himself as Hakuzōsu and paid Yasaku a visit. He scolded him for hunting foxes, preaching the Buddhist precept that killing any living being is a grave sin. He referenced the story of Tamamo no Mae, whose sins caused her to be transformed into a boulder as a punishment. He even gave Yasaku some money in exchange for the rest of his snares. Finally Yasaku promised to stop killing foxes. Pleased with his success, the kitsune skipped back into the forest.

However, the money was not enough to support Yasaku’s lifestyle. He quickly spent all that the kitsune had given him. He decided to travel to his uncle’s temple to ask for more money. The old kitsune discovered Yasaku’s plan, and realized that his deception would be discovered. He went to the temple ahead of Yasaku and located Hakuzōsu. He lured Hakuzōsu away from the safety of the temple and devoured him. The kitsune once again disguised himself as the old monk. When Yasaku arrived to ask for money, the kitsune disguised as Hakuzōsu scolded him and sent him away empty handed.

For the next fifty years, the kitsune lived at the temple, disguised as Hakuzōsu, and faithfully performed the old monk’s duties.

One day, a deer hunt took place at a nearby farm. Many people traveled to the farm to witness the hunt. Hakuzōsu (the kitsune) went to spectate as well. At the farm, two dogs belonging to a samurai sensed the kitsune’s true identity. The leaped upon Hakuzōsu and ripped him to pieces. When the dogs were finally called off of the old monk, the torn body of an old, silver-furred kitsune was discovered and Hakuzōsu’s true form was exposed.

The villagers, fearing that the kitsune’s spirit would return and curse them, buried the body in the shade of a nearby mountain, and erected a small shrine over it.

Haradashi
Haradashi腹出し
はらだし

Translation: belly exposer
Habitat: old temples and homes
Diet: unknown, but has a fondness for sake

Appearance: Haradashi is a goofy-looking yōkai that can change into various different forms. Occasionally a haradashi will appear as a headless torso with arms, legs, and comical facial features on its belly. Other times it looks like a kind, elderly nun, or a goofy female monster with long black hair. Whatever form it takes, the defining characteristic of a haradashi is the large, silly-looking face which appears on the creature’s enormous stomach.

Behavior: Unlike most yōkai, haradashi do not do anything harmful. They are cheerful and agreeable yokai, and enjoy amusing others and cheering people up. They frequently disguise themselves as ordinary humans and then use their belly faces to surprise people and make them laugh.

Interactions: Haradashi appear to sad and lonely individuals, particularly those who are at home drinking alone. Haradashi will slip into these peoples’ houses to cheer them up. When offered a drink, a haradashi happily accepts it, and then bares its belly and performs a ridiculous dance. Those who entertain a haradashi in their homes find that their troubles and worries vanish, and they become filled with hopes and dreams.

Haradashi don’t only perform house calls. They make their homes in old temples and invite in those who need help. They call out to people who are lost or seeking shelter from the snow or rain, and invite them to stay the night in their temple. A haradashi will present its guest with a warm room and a hearty meal, and of course entertain with its signature belly dance.
