| Hellshell Specific Species: Ballisto, Grenado (Pineapple), Livewire, Mother of All Bombs (MOAB), Mine (Detonator), Torpedo (Pyrate), Napalm (Agent Orange), Ghost-In-Shell (Ghosts), Warhead (King Bomb) A race of living explosives created by the Witches based off of many military explosive weapons, such as bombs and grenades. Being sentient beings, their nature is extremely fiery, short-fused and... explosive, making them detonate upon irritation. They grow in power from drawing energy from the air which then becomes generated into unstable explosive energy within, due to the systematics of their bodies. Some grow in size when they are about to explode More powerful Hellshells can contain their explosive nature in order to build up more energy, and thus create a more powerful explosion later. However, once they explode, they release all of their energy, and typically end up dying. Some leave their original containers, which can be rekindled with more energy. some of the stronger ones are known to rekindle on their own after gathering a certain amount of energy again. They are very dangerous and typically do not interact with others, as they were used primarily as weapons. Living explosive weapons said to be the first successful experiments that mothered the Soulmates known today, though instead of maintaining physical bodies, their powerful souls burnt them away and anything else they came in contact with for energy. They were first confused with the natural spirit of 'Will-o-The-Wisp,' however even though they share much likeness to it, they simply only modeled after it. Made in times of yore by the Witches to combat rivaling forces, the Hellshells were made by Mechanica herself, using the finest technology not outdated even in present day as well as the most potent of magics to contain such power. A testament to her work. They harbor a will only to take out their targets, and all have burning, explosive souls prone to Soul Wavelength, Insanity and Magic, making them highly reactive to both. They seek those who use magic and attack them on site, and those who use Wavelength or Insanity quickly find it drained into the Hellshell for more power. Bomber - Spoiler:

Absorbs Insanity, rage, anger, and negative emotions and turns them into energy to help it explode. Cools down explosive energy with Water, Ice or Wind elements, which also causes it to shrink. Shrinks and loses energy when using magic, however magic is much stronger the more energy they have stored. Known to be reactive when magic is present. Absorbs Soul Wavelength. When Berserked, causes it to explode instantaneously. Weapons Rend: With powerful burning jaws and claws, it rends and melts through what it bites and slashes at. Burning Body: Slams its incredibly hot body of pure flame at its targets. Grows hotter and larger as it gets more energy. Natural/Signature Abilities Fire Magic Buildup Explode Flame Attack: Spews out concentrated, heated, fast blasts of fire from its mouth that explode on the foe. Bomb Blast: Powered up version of Flame Attack, shooting out rapid-fire fire bombs at the foe. Solar Flare: A powerful explosion of heat and energy (not fire, despite its name) that does incredible damage and covers an incredible range. Heat Shield: Halves the effects of any physical attacks. Halves the effects of non-physical attacks. Shimmering Heat: Coats self in magic that will reflect and double the power of non-physical attacks back at the caster. Heat Barrier: Increases the effects of any sort of defensive moves (For example, Protect, Shell, Reflect...) Oilspill: Spews oil that will make fire attacks do 3 times the damage to anything afflicted with Oil. Booomboom!: Creates a 'Baby/Mini' Bomb that it throws like a grenade to explode with the power of a normal bomb. Heat Pierce: Ignores Reflect and other barriers. Berserk Hellstorm Heat Wave Fiery Spirit: (Quicken) Blaze Fireball Meltdown Elemental Overdrive Flamestrike Enflame Highly unstable and reactive due to their experimental ways, they are made purely and solely for destruction; to detonate themselves and take everything along with them. They are powered by their own rage and the soul wavelength or negative emotions of others, though most commonly, insanity itself, which they draw in excessive amounts and transform into raw explosive energy within themselves, or into magic. They hate everything, including themselves and their own lives, which is why they are so willing to take themselves out. Oddly enough, they do not harm each other, as they seem to hold each other in high respect, and tend to all be of like mind when near each other. They say that a Hellshell envies others for being able to live past their use and have more emotions than just hatred and rage, and thus, take it out on everything that lives. They will continue to take in all such power until they grow to unimaginable sizes and explode, taking out everything in their blast radius. They are various in their races and can be very lethal. The angrier it gets, the larger it grows. Some are said to even have enough potential energy to explode with the force of supernovas, or even greater, if not dealt with fast enough. However, this has never been seen, as there has never been a Hellshell that can contain that much power long enough before it lets itself go in a fit of rage. Oddly enough, they do not explode when destroyed, but transfer all the energy they have drawn into their very souls, which then grow in strength. Though all hope seems lost when a Hellshell is released, there is a way to keep its power at bay, or even to deactivate it. That is to extinguish its flames with Water, Ice or Wind, which in turn leaves only a small flame that is its soul. Though it becomes deactive, if left alone for too long, it will rekindle its hatred from lingering insanity and negativity, and hunt down whomever it was that deactivated it with eternal vengefulness. If it is rekindled by outside forces, it will hate the one who brought it back to its miserable life and explode on sight. Another way to keep this creature at calm is to never feed it negative emotions, nor enrage it. It will stay at peace and never grow, but become able to be interacted with. They say that those who wish to rid themselves of negativity test their might by surroundings themselves with Hellshells. If the Hellshells become hostile or detonate, then they have failed their training, however if they can leave alive without agitating the weapons, then their training is successful. Explosivo (Short Fuse) An enscorceled weapon for use against the Witches' enemies in days past, left to grow wild. Known to react swiftly to the presence of magic, the action of which triggering explosive energies contained within. Notwithstanding, the release of said energy leads to an explosion of a physical nature, making it greatly effective against targets who rely upon magical protection. They have the shortest temper, and are widely known as 'Short Fuses' because of this, which causes them to explode prematurely due to their incredible rage. They were the most mass produced, as their explosions were still very potent, and they were the easiest to create. Every once and a while, there is a Short Fuse that is able to control itself to the point where it grows larger and more powerful than others, causing more destructive explosions. But now a savior has emerged from a most unlikely direction: the famed Mameco the Pug and several other mummers have begun using mallets in their work on stage. Nothing is more crowd-pleasing than braining a fool with a mallet, it seems."

Though they are individuals, as a side-effect of their simultaneous creation they are as facets of a single consciousness, and have been known to coordinate their attacks on intruders to deadly effect. They have the power to birth other Bombs and Grenades."

Their bodies are made of their own souls condensed into the form of physical flames of hatred and kept by Mechanica's technological magic. This allows them the gift of flight. They are prone to ramming and biting with their fiery bodies, which in turn can inflict deadly burns. They grow hotter and brighter the more energy they get within them, as a signal also to their imminent explosions, if they do not grow in size.

A creature made for the sole purpose of inducing nuclear explosions. Variable sizes. Can chain react with other Explodions. *Burst Eyes. *Metallic Trap. *Nuclear Core. *Timer Tail.
Warhead (King Bomby) - Spoiler:
"Being a fiery armament of singular destructive power among the bombs created in ancient times. It is the King of all Bombs and controls them to its will, along with their kin, the Grenades. It was long thought that the bombs disappeared, never taking to the wilds, yet drawn by the massive Mist cloud left in the wake of the tragedy at Nabudis, they came to live here as odd guests in the forest."
Though there are many Hellshells created for many different situations, the forbidden 'King of All Bombs' is the great 'Warhead.' By far the naturally largest of all bombs, which takes in energy in the truckloads, never growing larger nor letting one know of how much energy it has taken in. It is one of the only Hellshells that can maintain its composure during its lifetime, infinitely gaining energy until the time of its death, where it explodes and releases all of the pent up energy it has contained within itself over the course of its life.
King Bomb Only Attacks Call for Help: Calls any Bombs (including Grenades and the like) for help.
Ultima: The most powerful magic there is. Will cast it from itself or the sky, making a MASSIVE explosion of PURE MAGIC and destructive power, making an explosion of epic proportions able to destroy everything in its way with ease.
Full-Cure: Fully heals all wounds and restores all health, but keeps built up power. Also cures all status ailments (if any.)
Chain Reaction/Mass Destruction: If it explodes, it will have all other Bombs in the area explode with it, making explosions beyond that of a supernova.
Magic Reaction: Upon using magic, all other bombs in the area will use ALL of their magical attacks simultaneously along with it.
Inflate: Increases size while not being prone to explode. Instead, doubles all of its statistics each time it Inflates. Can also increase the size of other objects of its choosing with the same effects.
Bash: Rams self at intense speeds at anything it wishes, incinerating everything in the way.
Safety: Protects self from Instant Death, Doom, Gravitational attacks and status ailments.
Reflect Damage: Half of the damage done to the King Bomb will instantly be done to the attacker as well.
Instant Magic: For a limited time, able to use magic without charging time.
Greater Barrier: Casts Protect, Shell and Reflect. Better than Mighty Guard.

| Lampbrain Mega Lampbrain It is a cute, hovering robot that shoots electrical pulses from itself and electric beams from its glass head that amplifies its attacks. Its arms can be charged with electricity and it can make them float over and be used like tazers only with a super increased power. | |

| Living Weapon Series; Female Biometal Human Collection - Biofemmes. Living Weapon SeriesThe Living Weapon series is just as it sounds. It is a living, organic being combined with the powers of machines and weaponry, though with more human-like qualities than any other. They tend to resemble normal humans until they need to engage in battle. They come in a variety of different collections, though the only Collection Cleff has right now totally completed is the Female Biometal-Human Collection... Also called the Fem-BioHume Collection, known also as the 'Biofemme' Type Units. Biofemme Type Machina; Female Biometal-Human CollectionThe Fem-BioHume Collection is a collection of numerous girl machines with an array of different weapons and armors that benefit their purposes. They cannot change their Biometals, as they are built in, however they can enhance them and adapt to a degree. Otherwise, they are just female living machines built for specific purposes. MMS Type Cat; Specialized Close Combat Style - Reconacat - Spoiler:

Maochao is a Cat-like BioHume with all of the powers and abilities of a cat, however increased greatly. As her product name states, she specializes in close combat. She may stick to any solid substance by forcefully digging her powerful claws into them. She is able to see through illusions as well as see in the dark, and can hear exceptionally well. Her smell is also pretty decent as well, much like a cat's. She is one of the fastest of the BioHumes. Her Cat Claw equipped to her left arm is able to change into a drill. Her helmet protects her from heavy gunfire, as does the rest of the armored parts of her body. Cleff has also fixed up all of her flaws that were pointed out by Cross long ago, making her much better than before.
Equipment
Grinding Claws: Her left and right arm weapons. They have the power to rip powerful substances that are very dense and sturdy to shreds. They can also tear through energy fields with ease.
Defending Wall: Equipped to her right Grinding Claw. It is a powerful, yet small shield that allows her to block heavier fire than her armor can handle, giving her the power to rush right through tank shots with little to no damage at all.
Revolving Tooth: Equipped to her left Grinding Claw. Transforms the claw into a drill, which rotates at speeds up to 10,000 mph which can generate windstorms and tornadoes of the same strength. It also has 1,000,000 horsepower, making this her strongest weapon. It can even exceed these heights at full power.
Puchi Machines: Summons up tiny little machines from her body that do a number of things, such as shoot bullets and such. Hers are only made for shooting out bullets in rapid fire. Nothing more. She has 10 Puchi Machines. They are equipped to her body, but can detach and float around on their own.
Fighting Jacket: Equipped to her chest and shoulders. This is her lightweight armor made for very high movement, but maximum protection. It is durable and flexible, so it does not restrain her at all. It resists heavy bullet fire.
Heaven Dancing Boots: Equipped to her feet. These allow her virtually silent movement and speed equal to that of a well-trained ANBU. They deliver powerful kicks as well, so they are not just for speed. They are lightweight and work and shin guards.
Iron Ears: Equipped to her head. Her helmet, which resists heavy gunfire as much as her other armor does. It also increases her scanning range of the area to give her a much broader view of everything. They also work as a radar jammer to ensure people cannot track her.
Attacks Wind Blade: Her only projectile move. She focuses a large amount of force with her fist and releases it as a sharp, powerful burst that flies at the opponent, stealing the momentum and force of what it touches so that it can become faster and more powerful. It slices through what it can, as it is surprisingly sharp.
Strongest Shield: A barrier of force that absorbs the force of what is to hit it so that it may become stronger and sturdier. To prevent energies from penetrating it, as well, it concentrates itself after it is generated, constantly growing more powerful and reacting in a way that will adapt and then repulse whatever is trying to penetrate it. She may use the absorbed force for her attacks as well.
Sunder Splash Fever: Using the Puchi Machines, they all fire off hundreds upon hundreds of bullets in rapid fire at their target.
Final Doridori Attack: Spins her drill as fast as it can go, whipping up an immense windstorm and then drills into her opponent with the force of a thousand tornadoes to impale them and drill them to pieces.
Super Neko Punch: Punches and scratches with her Grinding Claws at maximum speed, aiming to totally pulverize whatever is hit and turn it to dust. She moves so fast her attacks are not able to be seen by even the keenest eyes.
MMS Type Devil; Close Combat Style, Heavy Arms - Pistonwhip - Spoiler:

Strarf is one of the most powerful types there is to date, and her power is only backed up by her size. Being the Heavy Arms type, she deals heavy hits and takes little damage, and has a wide array of weaponry for any kind of attack. Boasting four arms and spikes, she is hard to fight. Unlike most, she has an upgraded form called Strarf Mk. II, which she can assume if she is ever in a pinch. This gives her even more power, even more weaponry, and even more defensive measures to combat anything that stands in her way and take it down.
Equipment
Schram RvGND Launcher: This is her Revolving (Rv) Grenade (GND) Launcher (Launcer). It is very powerful and can fire multiple grenades at a time for a very explosive and destructive battle type. Used in right small hand
Model PHC Handgun Vuzluif: A typical handgun that fires off bullets and explosions. Yes, explosions. Condensed ones disguised as bullets. They explode on command or on impact. Used in left small hand.
Fulsto Gufloto & Fulsto Klein: Equipped to her shoulders. Two sets of Twin daggers that she may pull out at any given time for quick slashes and attacks. This is for when she needs to get hits off quickly and efficiently. They are very sharp and very versatile. Gufloto is longer than Klein just a bit, as it is used by the larger arms whilst the smaller arms use Klein. Klein are throwing blades while Gufloto are daggers.
Angle Blades: Equipped to her head. These twin Angle Blades are long, swift swords that have more range and power than the Furusutu blades. They are used for their reach and speed.
Zhileza Rocket Hammer: A huge, powerful hammer with spikes where the flat end should be. It is, as stated, powered by rockets for powerful and swift strikes that can crush whatever it can hit. It releases several gigatons of force, so it is nothing to mess with. Used only in large hands.
GA4 "Tigru" Leg Parts & GA2 "Sabaka" Leg Parts: Massive legs with lots of armor to resist most things that try to attack. They allow her to jump incredibly high and sustain lots of balance, even in heavy fire with a lot of force. They can sustain lots of force and shock, so firing off powerful and forceful weapons isn't a problem. They also have blades on the toe for powerful kicks.
DT Rear Unit plus GA4 Arm: Her larger set of arms. These are massive and bulky, able to handle a lot of weight as well as deliver powerful punches. They handle the Rocket Hammer and all other large weapons. Very strong. They have blades fingers.
Spike Armors 1-4: Spikes that jut from her toes and her back. Nothing more.
Guard Shields: Equipped to her back. Guard shields come out to block her when she is attacked so that he main body does not get hurt. Small arms cannot attack while out, however large arms still can.
Thermal Sensor: A visor that generates itself around her face so that she may have thermal vision.
Sensor Blade Shiniyon: A huge sword that is meant for destructive slashes and such.
Attacks
Rapid Dog Trap: Shoots a bullet that will surround the foe and explode numerous times when they get too close to it. Alternatively, she holds with huge arms and fires off endless rounds of exploding bullets with handgun from close range.
Piasd Nightmare: Uses all of the blades in her arsenal and attacks violently with all of them.
Apocalypse Execution: Using the full power of the Rocket Hammer, she brings it down on her enemies with several hundred gigatons of force and crushes them and everything in the area.
\ MMS Type Devil; Close Combat Style, Heavy Arms - Pistonwhip Mk. II - Spoiler:
*Hovering EMP pulsating arms controlled by synchronized mental waves and nerve reading systems.
*Generates electro blades and whips. Generally the same as its predecessor, however much faster, has flight capabilities and now is equipped with a gigantic beam sword katana as well as a short beamsword. She has kept generally all of the same equipment except has released her Ga4 Tigru leg armor to make her faster and added on other new things. Her weapons have all changed, however.
Equipment
Kot: A highly condensed beam dagger equipped to her left small hand. It is very powerful and the energy used to take its shape has taken a solid form. It can easily slice through the toughest of armors and is fast.
Koshca: A highly condensed beam sword equipped to her right small hand. It is very powerful and the energy used to take its shape has taken a solid form. It has much more reach and power than the Kot.
FL017 Scissor Blade: A large shortsword equipped to the right large arm. This is called a shortsword only in comparison to the hand that uses it. It is attached to the top and it is very swift and more powerful than the Kot. It is used to make quick work of weaklings. The only blade she has equipped that isn't made of energy.
Greaver: A huge highly condensed beam katana broadsword equipped to her left large arm. It is her most powerful weapon and literally cuts through anything in its way with as much power as the Rocket Hammer. It is surprisingly fast.
FL017 Rear Unit: This replaces her old bulky DT Rear Unit, giving her more mobility and maneuverability as well as great defense. Much better than the old unit.
Olyen: Her head armor. It is very durable and is used to protect her from damage to the head, though it doesn't look like it. It gives her much more control over everything she does.
Spectral Guard: Equipped to her chest. Replaces her old chest armor so that she is able to resist energy based attacks much more easily and take much more fire without having to be so bulky. This leaves her with less armor that protects her even more than before.
Rok & Klyuv: Twin blades attached to her knees. They can jut out and retract at will, so when she knees people, she can stab them as well.
Battle Shoes: Specially made feet units with boosters for excellent speed. Replaces her old sturdy feet for more mobility and maneuverability as well as ground sturdiness, however are not as good shock absorbers as her other feet.
GA2 "Karova" Leg Parts: Replaces her old Sabaka leg units, giving her much higher mobility and speed, letting her legs move faster at the expense of not being as bulky. She is quicker, however does not retain balance as well nor shock, though the legs function well in the air.
Stabilizer Wings: Wings that stabilize her in the air, attached to her shoulders and back. She is able to fly very well with these and they have boosters to enhance her flying. These are what make her maneuverability in the air the best.
Attacks
Dega and Koshca: Attacks using her two blades Kot and Koshca, increasing their power output to maximum to slice through anything and everything in the way, no matter the power. Needs to cool down afterward.
Extermination "Borg Miech": Most powerful attack with her sword, Greaver. It increases its output to maximum, giving it the power to slice through anything and everything, no matter how dense nor how powerful it is with a blade 10 times the size of Greaver. Needs sufficient cooldown time after use.

| Living Weapon Series; Biometal Human Collection *Male Version of the Fem-BioHumes. *Standard Issue BioHumes. BioFrame - Spoiler:
*Default Frame for all Biometal Humans; Male, Female and Genderless.
*Fully customizable, but fairly weak by itself (Like Medabots)
*It has no physical combat ability of its own until programmed and can be programmed to meet the basic requirements or expectations of the one who it is designated for, making no model exactly the same. Basically, like Humans.
*Artificial Intelligence allows it to completely adapt, learn and grow like a normal human, starting from its predetermined functions. They are made like babies and customized to match the user, so their personalities grow based on who the owner is.
*Capable of mixing and importing new parts and new data based on its personality and its programming. If it finds a machine or a creature of similar function, it will absorb the data into itself, like a human.
*It becomes more powerful the more it experiences and grows from 'Experience Points,' similarly to humans who must go through certain experiences in order to grow and learn.

Appearance: Hossumori are the tsukumogami of hossu—wand-like brushes used by Buddhist priests. After many years of being handled by a Zen master, they have become enlightened themselves.
Origin: Hossu are Buddhist tools originating in India. Flies and other insects can be quite distracting and troublesome to meditating priests and monks. Swatting and killing even a fly or a mosquito is a sin in Buddhism. Thus, a hossu can be used to gently shoo away insects which land on their bodies or bite them without harming the insect. In addition to their practical use of keeping insects away, hossu are spiritual tools symbolic of warding away demons and anything else that might distract one from focusing on the Buddha.
Hossumori appear in Toriyama Sekien’s Hyakki tsurezure bukuro. He references a famous kōan (a Zen question) in which a student asks Zen master Jōshū whether dogs have buddha nature. Sekien suggests that if even a dog has a buddha nature, then perhaps a hossu used for nine years by a Zen master might also realize its buddha nature. | Karakasa-Obake Appearance: These silly looking yōkai are transformations of Chinese-style oiled-paper umbrellas. They have a single large eye, a long, protruding tongue, and either one or two legs upon which they hop around wildly. Behavior: Karakasa kozō are not particularly fearsome as far as yōkai go. Their favorite method of surprising humans is to sneak up on them and deliver a large, oily lick with their enormous tongues—which may be traumatic even though it isn’t dangerous. Caution is advised, however. There are other umbrella tsukumogami which are dangerous to humans, and care should be taken not to confuse them with this more playful spirit. The Karakasa-Obake are a race with the form of a large umbrella that were once tools used by humans. They became monsters after gaining life and sentience from absorbing enough demonic energy over time. The Karakasa-Obake are also referred to as "tsukumogami"; a type of monster that used to be tools, but gained a life of their own. They have a strong desire to be "used" by the human males who own them regardless of how they were treated, Those who were handled with care, or were used crudely and thrown away, have an equal chance of becoming "tsukumogami" and seek to be with their owner. As their original form and purpose was mainly for use on rainy days, the strong desire to serve their owners changed their bodies into that of beautiful young women so they may be more useful in many different situations. They believe that every part of their bodies is to be used in service of their owner as pleasing them is the greatest joy that they can receive. Even if the stimulation they receive is only slight, to the Karakasa-Obake it is magnified greatly, often surprising their owner at the responses they give in return. The karakasa-obake's canopy is capable of floating without support, forming a roof to cover the couple's relations, making a place for just the two of them. Beneath their umbrella canopy there's an organ similar to a giant tongue which they will often use when they think of servicing their owner, using it to seize and draw him close. A lubricating fluid that increases the responses to stimulation is secreted from the tongue. By licking their owner and their own body, they generate even deeper pleasure further pleasing themselves and their owner. Once the Karakasa-Obake closes her umbrella it will repel not just rain, but even swords and magic, creating a world just for her and her owner that bars all intrusion. In that confined space with two bodies glued together, the only thing one would be able to see is the alluring body of the Karakasa-Obake and the only thing one could do in response is give in to desire and use them. From repeatedly using them the owner would become a prisoner of the pleasure they can bring, just as the Karakasa-Obake desires. The owner will then end up being in the same umbrella with them repeatedly, continuously using them relentlessly. To the Karakasa-Obake and their owners, every day will become full of happiness and ecstasy. A routine that will become difficult to change. Although they no longer have any relation to the weather, their bodies still recognise rainy days as "days when they can be used" causing them to strongly throb with desire. Those who become tsukumogami after being handled with care repay their owners' kindness with more than sexual favours: they often devotedly provide other services by taking care of his daily needs. The Karakasa-Obake who were treated poorly have the same devoted personality but attack men more frequently, out of fear of being neglected, often attacking their owner with such frequency that it becomes a pathological psychosis. They easily get lonely when they feel that their owner is not using them often enough and will seek and capture them within their umbrella, locking them both in a world of their own. Hone karakasa - Spoiler:

Appearance: Hone karakasa is a tsukumogami born from an tattered and torn up old Chinese-style paper umbrella. The “hone,” or bone, part of their name comes from the fact that without the paper covering, the wooden tines on this kind of umbrella look something like fish bones. They spring into life on wet, windy days, and dance through the sky like wild birds. Their appearance is a sure sign that bad weather is coming.
Hone karakasa are closely related to the much better-known umbrella tsukumogami karakasa-kozō.

Appearance: When the straw sandals known as zōri have been mistreated and forgotten by their owners, they can transform into sandal-yōkai called Bakezōri.
Behavior: These sandal-shaped yōkai sprout arms and legs from their bodies and a single, large eye in their centers. They run about the house at night, causing mischief and making noise. Bakezōri have a favorite chant, which they sing as they run about the house on their tiny feet:
Kararin! Kororin! Kankororin! Managu mittsu ni ha ninmai! Kararin! Kororin! Kankororin! Eyes three and teeth two!
“Eyes three” refers to the three holes where the sandal straps are attached and “teeth two” refers to the two wooden clogs on the underside of Japanese sandals. The other words are onomatopoeia representations of a zōri clacking along a hard surface. | |

Appearance: Byōbu nozoki is a depraved spirit which emerges from the decorative folding screens known as byōbu. It is very tall, stretching well over two meters (tall enough to peer over any sized folding screen). It’s body is long and lithe, and it wears white robes resembling those of a ghost. It has long black hair and blackened teeth. Despite the resemblance, byōbu nozoki it is not a yūrei, but is actually the tsukumogami of a folding screen.
Interactions: As its name suggests, a byōbu nozoki’s chief activity is leering over folding screens at the people on the other side—particularly if the people are engaged in romantic activities.
Origin: Byōbu nozoki was invented by Toriyama Sekien for his book Konjaku hyakki shūi. According to him, this spirit manifests from a very old folding screen which has witnessed many years of sexual activity.
Sekien invented a fake history connecting it with Chinese history. Sekien describes the byōbu nozoki as tall enough to peer over a folding screen seven shaku (a unit of length approximately 30 cm) high. This recalls a story about the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang, in which he leaped over a 7 shaku tall byobu to escape an assassination attempt. This legend which would have been well known to his readers during the Edo period. With this reference, Sekien both invents a funny narrative and finds a way to connect this amusing yōkai with history, legitimizing it as more than something he just made up. | |

Appearance: Furuōgi is a squat, hairy yōkai with an old, worn out folding fan sprouting from its back.
Origin: Furuōgi appears in some of the earliest Hyakki yagyō emaki, pictures scrolls of the night parade of one hundred demons, along with a number of other tsukumogami. Early yokai scrolls did not give names or descriptions, so nothing about furuōgi is known other than its appearance. Even its name was added much later. | |

| Furuutsubo Furuutsubo, Kurayarou, Abumiguchi

Translation: old quiver
Appearance: Furuutsubo are the beloved quivers of slain archers who died particularly tragic deaths. These quivers—along with other arms and armor—develop life force due to the residual energies left behind by their owners. They begin to move around on their own.
Legends: The most famous furuutsubo was the quiver which belonged to Miura Yoshiaki, a military commander who lived at the end of the Heian period. Yoshiaki was a brave warrior, skilled in sword and bow. For the Genpei War, he fought on the side of the Minamoto clan. As the enemy was bearing down during a terrible siege, Yoshiaki arranged for his household to escape from the castle. Then, as the last few survivors made it out safely, he remained alone. Yoshiaki stayed behind to defend the castle against the invading army. He sacrificed his life. After his heroic death, his favorite quiver was heartbroken at the loss of its master. It took on a life of its own and became this yōkai. | |

| Hahakigami Hahakigami箒神 ははきがみ
Translation: broom spirit Alternate names: hōkigami
Appearance: A hahakigami is a tsukumogami which takes up residence in a broom. They can sometimes be seen on cold, windy late autumn mornings, sweeping wildly at the blowing leaves.
Origin: Long ago, brooms were not household cleaning tools, but actually holy instruments used in ritual purification ceremonies. They were used to on the air in a room or area in order to purify it and sweep out any evil spirits and negative energy that might be lingering there. Like any tool used for many years, a broom which reaches a very old age becomes a perfect home for a spirit — perhaps even more so in the case of a hahakigami because of the ritual nature of its origin.
Hahakigami are used also as magical charms for safe and quick childbirth. Because brooms are used to “sweep out” evil energy, a hahakigami acts as a sort of totem to “sweep out” the baby from its mother safely. They are also used as charms to keep guests from overstaying their visit. Anyone who has stayed beyond their welcome might also be “swept out” by the power of the hahakigami. | |

Translation: scissors cutter
Appearance: Hasamidachi is a small yōkai with wild hair, buggy eyes, and a pair of scissors sprouting from its head.
Origin: Hasamidachi appears in the earliest yokai scrolls, and has been copied many times from these early depictions, appearing over and over again in many different scrolls. Despite this, no name or description has ever been recorded. The name hasamidachi was given to it in recent years by yokai researcher Aramata Hiroshi, however it is also known by less descriptive names such as hasami no bakemono (scissors monster) or just hasami (scissors). | |
