The safety of the underground allowed the depraved to engage in their selfishly desired copulation rituals, with the singular Parasite Queen never tiring of the many lovers, and the many lovers never satisfying the Parasite Queen. One after the next, they would shake their troubles away by making mates with their mistress. Their fears, stress, and distress would be covered by their incessant necessity to continually have sexual relations to make themselves feel better about whatever negativity was about. Simple and quite primal, but effective for creatures that literally had nothing better to do but act on the most base, most primal of instincts, all day, and never use a shred of any intellect greater. This was the height of their existence, other than eating -- mating. So, when in discord, it was the best relief. However, since all of them were completely vain and selfish, none of them thought to keep watch over anything. They apparently had lost that level of sophistication, due to base primal urges preventing them from having any kind of patience or capacity for any thought or feeling except the very first one they had initially. Simple to the highest degree.

In short, every last one of the hive-mind was occupied, all seeking out the courtship (or, rather, copulation) of their Parasite Queen. Not a one had a thought otherwise. For, since they were all a hive-mind, they thought the same thing... But because they were a primitive, degenerate hive-mind, they thought the same thing at the same time for the same reason and had -no- capacity for judgment outside of their own personal thought, which all of them were having. It was the same as copies or clones -- they all had the same thought at the same time and acted on it the same way at the same time. Their only inkling that the others had the same thought was the fact that they moved in the same direction at the same time toward the same thing for the same reason... And thus, that made it a competition between them all. The floor people would indeed fight against and rend each other to bits on the way down to the Parasite Queen, but the entire act just got her and them stirred enough to engage more savagely. So what ended up occurring was that they all wanted the same goal, for the same reason, and refused to think otherwise or about anything differently, and then competed instead of using any level of critical thinking -beyond- just the -immediate- target of their gratification -- almost as if incapable. Which, quite honestly, as degenerate as they'd become... They very, very much were. Indubitably.
