Pokemon Fanfic; Ultimate Pokemon Master's Tournament

The roar of a large crowd could be heard reverberating throughout a dark arena, as if waiting in anticipation for some sort of show to start. Before long, great spotlights shone down on a platform dead center of the stadium, being much larger than a football field in size. Everyone could see it, and upon the center of the platform was the trademark symbol of the Pokeball.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Ultimate Pokemon Master's Tournament!" shouted the enthusiastic announcer over a loudspeaker. "This tournament is dedicated to all of the Pokemon Trainers from all over the regions from all throughout the years coming together to face each other to see which Trainer has mastered the art of raising Pokemon to such a degree that they can be called a Pokemon Master! Are you ready for the first battle?"

The crowd cheered loudly in response to the announcer.

"Okay! Then let's begin!" shouted the announcer. "The rules are simple: Out of six Pokemon, the first one to have all of their Pokemon unable to battle is the loser. The Pokemon Trainer that can best all of the opponents in the tournament will be known as a Pokemon Master for all time!"

The crowd cheered in a lively fashion once more.

Announcer: "Combatants, to the center of the stage!"

Suddenly, almost on cue, did a figure garbed in a tattered black cloak that wrapped around his body and a matching witch's hat step forward from the darkness, a strange clear scarf wrapped around his neck. The fabric on his clothes did not look like it was from this world, and his face could not be seen under the shadow of his hat and the collar of his cloak. However, his eyes glowed a bright green, and that glow seemed otherworldly.

Kairo Tigen clapped his hands together suddenly and he screamed something in another language... Possibly. We don't know exactly what was said by him, but whatever it was, the Chandelure seemed to understand him... Somehow. Maybe Kairo Tigen knew the Pokemon's language, or something of the sort... Or, perhaps even that he taught the Pokemon another language. Whatever the case may be, the situation was just as enigmatic as the cry itself, but it didn't go unrecognized to the Chandelure, who readily and actively reacted with obedience.

Tigen Jr., the Chandelure, suddenly shrank to a smaller size, allowing it to rather narrowly evade the Nidoking using Drill Run. It remained smaller, though it was still visible and hadn't gotten too small. Clearly, Kairo Tigen instructed for Tigen Jr. to use Minimize, which it did, raising its evasion. The smaller Chandelure bounced around the sky erratically, its dancing flame rather alluring...

Being an Ace Trainer, Valmont knew when he had the upper hand. "He didn't attack..." was all he said as he smirked deviously and sought to take advantage of both this opening and the poison typing of his Nidoking. "Toxic!"

The Nidoking landed with a great thud, where it immediately became stable on the ground, already poised to attack the Chandelure, even whilst it was moving about. Poison Pokemon could not miss with the move Toxic, and not having an immunity as well as refusing to attack or disable the technique would result in a guaranteed bad poisoning of the opponent. Nidoking turned around and showed its spikes along its body, then flexed very hard, releasing sharp, venomous, projectile secretions from itself that would become gaseous and fill the general atmosphere.

This did not please Kairo Tigen, who showed this by his suddenly rather disdained attitude when the attack Toxic was used.

Tigen Jr. had to suffer the effects of the guaranteed-to-hit Toxic, which caused it to become badly poisoned, and it choked on the haze that intermingled with its flame in a detrimental fashion. The flames crackled and sparked every so often as the toxic particles were absorbed into the fire unwillingly, and the longer the Chandelure burned up this toxic air, the worse its condition got.

But, there was something going on with Kairo Tigen, whose internal flame that illuminated his whole body was now as purple as the toxic cloud. The music coming from his body even sounded much more serious and ominous, almost like it was setting the stage for something regarding the change in Kairo Tigen's color.

"... Curse You," Kairo Tigen finally said in a very calm, yet simultaneously threatening voice. His eyes were narrow and sharp, contrasting vastly what they looked like before when it seemed like he was merely playing around.

Though badly poisoned, the full effects of the venom had not kicked in yet, meaning the Chandelure still had time to do battle with this Nidoking, at least for a short while. With Kairo Tigen's command to use Curse, Tigen Jr.'s fire burst from its head and its stalks that bore its purple flames, immediately burning up all of the toxic cloud that surrounded it. It was engulfed by its own flame for a short time, which would also reflect in the Nidoking spontaneously combusting with the ghastly purple flare as well. Though it seemed like the Chandelure was initially in pain from both burning up all of the toxic particles and overpowering itself with its flame, when the flame died down, it seemed to have stopped damaging itself.

The Nidoking would not be released from the flames of the Curse, which would burn away at its life force until it could not longer battle. Yet, at the same time, the venom from Toxic was getting worse within Tigen Jr., whose flames crackled yet again, causing it to wince in pain.

Ace Trainer Valmont noticed Kairo Tigen's shift in attitude right away. "What's the matter? You stopped dancing," he taunted, "You finally taking this seriously?"

Though Valmont was pleased with his success, he was still in a predicament himself given his Nidoking was cursed. He knew that this Nidoking wouldn't last for very long, so it was best to do everything within its power to defeat or weaken as many Pokemon as possible. That said...

"Go now, Nidoking! Use High Horsepower!" screamed the Ace Trainer.

Nidoking, still burning from the flaming Curse of Chandelure, still had enough spirit left to move and attack, and using High Horsepower, would use a greater extent of its power than normal. It bent its knees further, raising its thick tail up as it pointed itself back at the Chandelure. When it was aimed as best as could be, it slammed its tail on the ground again whilst also boosting its power by jumping at the same time, causing it to lunge at the Chandelure at a high speed with incredible power, the strength of which could knock it out given the fact that Curse cut its health in half in order to bestow and maintain the Curse.

"Minimize," said Kairo Tigen, this time in a legible language.

Like before, right as Nidoking was going to hit the Chandelure, it shrank down smaller than it already was, now being rather compact and difficult to actually hit or target. When it got smaller, it once again narrowly evaded the attack from the Nidoking, but was still able to by the skin of its teeth.

The moment it did evade the attack, the Toxic took effect again and caused the Chandelure to stagger in the air, lowering it to the ground as its health declined. The clearly sick Pokemon released more unusual sparks from its flame, indicating its growing sickness. Its eyes lowered, and it hovered unsteadily.

Nidoking hit the ground with a great impact, landing on both its hands and feet. It pivoted around quickly, but was being afflicted by the Curse, which caused it to suddenly cry out in pain immediately after it finished attacking.

"Hang in there, Nidoking!" shouted Valmont, who followed up immediately with, "Venoshock!"

Even as it was in severe pain, the Nidoking managed to hear and obey the Ace Trainer, causing its eyes to burst open as the spiritual flame afflicted it. It regained its bearings and toughed out the pain, planting its arms in the ground as it reared up the spikes on its body. From them, it shot out sharp pins at the Chandelure, which would converge before it and explode, releasing the destructive toxic into the air via a cloud. It would intermingle with the already settling poison from before and cause even worse poisoning, which would harm it with the sensation of being shocked. The sheer intensity of the impact and the effect of the Venoshock, which was doubled in power if the target was already poisoned, would likely be able to bring down the Chandelure completely with that shot alone.

Once Kairo Tigen saw the attack, he knew that it would be the end for his Tigen Jr. As the attack made contact, Kairo Tigen picked out his specified custom Pokeball for the Chandelure, returning it the moment it fell out of the cloud of poison unconscious. He performed a backspin as he withdrew his own Pokeball and pulled out the next, hurling it outward with force from a backhand. He crossed his arms immediately, the intense music still playing.

What popped out was a rather scarred looking Weavile that seemed like it had seen its share of battles. Some of the feathers that made the reddish crown and formed its two ears were a bit tattered, and it wore earrings on either of its feathery ears. It was also wearing a scarf just like Kairo Tigen was, though its scarf was clearly black. The dark weasel Pokemon readied its claws with eyes unwavering, ready to attack, yet not doing so. It was waiting.

Kairo Tigen: "..."

The Weavile did not move. It didn't even blink.

After a time of awkward silence, Kairo Tigen finally said lowly, but decisively, "Kin. Hone Claws..."

The Weavile, clearly named Kin, would scrape its claws together a few times, which caused them to become sharper and more keen, icy particles twinkling in the air after they were released in the scraping process.

Valmont's face changed when he saw the Weavile. "A Weavile?!" It was faster than Nidoking and had a type advantage against it, which meant that it could devastate the Nidoking before it could potentially poison it. However, what was worse than simply finishing off the Nidoking was using Hone Claws in order to allow it to suffer the Curse as the Attack and Accuracy of the Weavile increased.

"Using a stat boosting move to wait out the Curse is good," complimented Valmont, "But it'll mean nothing if I take you out in one shot anyway! Nidoking!"

The Nidoking roared once again, feeling both the pain of its gradually dying spirit and the inspiration from its Trainer to continue to battle.

Valmont: "Megahorn!"

Channeling its power into its horn, the Nidoking concentrated energy into it and caused it to extend some. It slammed its tail on the ground again to launch itself through the air, piercing through the sky at a high speed and hopefully, right through the Weavile, as well.

Both Kairo Tigen and Kin the Weavile were unmoving as the Nidoking closed in. It was only at the very last second that Kairo Tigen said, "Ice Shard," to which the Weavile responded by swiping its ice cold claws through the air in front of it and flash freezing the air o release large icy shards straight into the Nidoking's body, bombarding it with the frozen shrapnel. The force would be able to knock it off course and damage it simultaneously. The increased attack power should have been enough to deal the finishing blow to it.

Both Valmont and the Nidoking gasped, as there was nothing that could be done about the impending Ice Shard.

The Nidoking was effectively knocked out after being hit with the Ice Shard and thrown off course. It crashed hard into the ground beside the Weavile, completely downed, groaning in pain as the spiritual fire extinguished.

"Return!" shouted Valmont, who then swapped out Nidoking. "Go! Aggron!"

The next Pokemon burst from the ball and manifested before the Weavile, towering over it with a shining metal body and three sharp, menacing horns.

Valmont: "Heavy Slam!"

Aggron glared at Weavile, raising its own mighty tail into the air, which would glow a bright silver. With a powerful strike, it would slam its heavy, metal tail down upon the Weavile's head, trying to crush it.

Kairo Tigen: "Do It Now."

Weavile's eyes glimmered just before the tail came down, which would crash into the ground and make a large cloud of dust released into the air, obscuring vision for a short while.

When the debris cleared, the Weavile was nowhere to be found for a moment or two, but soon appeared again in a flickering blur, smirking deviously. It gave Aggron a look directly into its eyes, then disappeared again in a flickering blur, moving with great Agility. Weavile was already faster, so being this fast would make it that much harder to keep up with for a slow and bulky Pokemon like Aggron.

Things looked like they weren't going to work out for the Aggron, and Valmont was also pretty strained by this. But, before too long, he thought up something that would hit the Weavile no matter how fast or evasive it was, and that would turn the entire battle around.

Valmont: "Smart Strike, Aggron!"

The eyes of the Aggron traced the ground, searching for any way to track the Weavile. With every manner of tracking and trapping possible, it would calculate the best manner of hitting the Weavile despite its speed. The Aggron could feel Weavile's movement across the ground, it could hear the Weavile in the sky, it could smell the Weavile's scent, and most of all, it could see where it was moving now. With a bit more calculation, the Aggron deciphered when and where the Weavile would next move, and at that moment, almost preemptively, it would dash at that position whilst the Weavile was already in motion and ram into it with its three large, sharp horns. Because it was a steel type and it was a steel move, the damage to the ice type Weavile would be astounding.

The move by the Aggron was surprising to both Kin the Weavile and Kairo Tigen, who were caught off guard by the never-miss move. To say the least, the move was very smart, as the name suggests. It was using the greatest amount of the other Pokemon's intelligence to find a method in which it could have the most effective method of hitting the opponent without fail. So, with the Weavile being subject to that, it was unprepared for the Smart Strike. The metal horns hit it hard, damaging it greatly.

Kairo Tigen narrowed his eyes, gauging whether or not Kin was able to continue.

After a short time on the ground, Kin struggled to stand. The Smart Strike and Aggron's great power combined with the rather fragile build of the Weavile made for it to take a lot of damage, but fortunately, it survived with just a bit of vitality left. It was this that gave Kin the perfect opportunity to turn the tables, which Kairo Tigen noticed immediately.

"Kin!" he cried, only for the Weavile to respond with a violent look in its eyes. The ground trembled as it built up power, seeming to know what Kairo Tigen was wishing just from hearing its name. "Get Revenge!" Kairo Tigen commanded, the Weavile suddenly shouting out. It dashed at the Aggron for one vengeful strike, which would double in power because the Weavile had taken damage that it wanted retribution for. It cocked its claws back as it dashed and jumped at the Aggron, swiping its claws with the great power of a mighty fighter, as this was a fighting type move and was quadruple effective against a steel and rock type. With Weavile's strength, it could end this with just this one move alone.

Though it might have seemed like it was a dire situation for the Aggron, Valmont noticed something very key that was an oversight on Kairo Tigen's part. He smirked as the Weavile collided with the Aggron, which would yes, damage the Aggron severely due to the heightened power of the Weavile, but even as the icy claws rend into the steel of Aggron, the Sturdy metal armor of the Pokemon allowed it to endure the would-be fatal strike with the last bit of its energy. At that moment, the Aggron was the most menacing thing in the world.

"Metal Claw!" screamed Valmont, who saw this as a decisive victory.

Aggron's claws glowed, and it raised them both up to either side of the Weavile's head. It pulled them back and then violently slammed them into the ice Pokemon's body, crushing the last bit of vitality out of it. The Aggron was clearly tired, but it was still standing.

"... Well Played..." Kairo Tigen said, closing his eyes as he returned the Weavile. "Tigen Wasn't Expecting You To Get This Far..." He flung yet another customized Pokeball to the stage, unveiling his next Pokemon... A rather prissy looking Mawile, a short Pokemon with a large maw growing from a stem atop its head. Though it seemed like it was haughty, when it opened its eyes, even just a little bit, there was an intense malice visible there. Something that was shared when Kairo Tigen opened his own eyes again.

He snapped his fingers.

Kairo Tigen: "... Hiun..."

The Mawile's eyes did not change and for a while, it didn't move. Then, all of a sudden, it very quickly and very powerfully swung its large mouth -- which was made of steel -- at the Aggron without warning, likely finishing it off with the Sucker Punch. The strike would be hard enough to knock even the towering, heavy, steel Pokemon off of its feet -- a testament to the Mawile's strength.

"I'll take that," said Valmont as his Aggron was knocked out by the surprise attack, "But hey, I don't think your little Mawile is going to be able to take this!" Valmont tossed the next Pokeball out onto the field, releasing a large, yellow, black-striped, beefy looking humanoid gorilla. "Electivire!" Valmont shouted, "Go on! Fire Punch!"

Naturally, the Electivire towered over the Mawile, and with its electrical energy flowing within it, it was pretty swift. With its two tails that resembled live wires, electricity cracked at the tips of them and prodded into the forearms, sending electrical currents all throughout the arm. The buildup of heat from the electrical currents eventually ignited the Electivire's fists, and it ran toward the Mawile with both of its hands blazing, thrusting strong and quick punches.

Kairo Tigen assessed the situation quickly, yet remained calm as the Electivire made its attack. When it was about to strike with the quick Fire Punches, Kairo Tigen saw an opening for his Mawile to take advantage of. "... There..." he muttered, the Mawile's eyes gleaming in tandem with his voice, as if having seen the same opening.

Hiun executed another Sucker Punch with an effortless and elegant spin to avoid the first fist whilst also using the torque of the twirl to slam the Electivire in the face with the giant steel mouth. The strength of the Mawile was extraordinary for a Pokemon of its size, and it would be able to send even the much larger Electivire clear across the stadium. Hiun held a hand up to its chin and gazed with a sharp and piercing eye, almost like it wanted to laugh mockingly.

Valmont gasped at the wily Mawile, as well as the new nature of the interdimensional Trainer. "... Whaa...?" Befuddled, he got himself together and yelled, "Get up, Electivire! Don't get Sucker Punched again! Instead... We're going to use... Thunder Wave!"

The downed Electivire pushed itself back onto its feet, then hunched over, hulking somewhat from the electrical surges stimulating its muscles whilst it stood in place. Raising its arms aggressively, it released powerful static surges that would generate a field of electromagnetic waves which had enough voltage and resonance to completely paralyze anything in range, across the field.
