Rainbow Bay

Vorspier's coming was nigh. A black mist billowed into the area as a lone, ghastly haunt hovered through, wispy ghost tail trailing behind as it moved. "... Good evening..." the mysterious spirit said to the two living folk, "... I am Vedour." His face was covered by a dark hood, and his body looked like tattered rags. Only his gleaming, narrow eyes could be seen in the darkness of his hood, of which he had four of. All four of his eyes laid sight on what looked like a bloody battlefield, wherein which they would glimmer slightly. "... The smell of the dead... Is soothing to a ghost like me... Yet..." He paused ominously. "... It seems to be a terrible omen..."

Vorspier's eminence spread. Vedour consciously met eyes with the two; a set for each pair. "... Nay..." Vedour murmured, "... I command naught, for I am but a servant... I only come to tell of fortune... And misfortune..." Vedour looked around, sparing no hesitation in saying, "Of which there seems to be much of around here. An explanation would do nicely... Perhaps, we may exchange information..."

Vorspier's presence intensified, the black fog thickening. "... My, then perhaps my master may be of assistance..." Vedour said ominously. He was silent for a moment, and the black fog contracted around him, focusing on only his location. "... We would assist you," he said decisively after a time. "... Who knows? Perhaps what you dream will become reality... Or, your nightmare..." His cryptic speech left a lot to be told, but he would help. "... We may turn the undead, and raise the fallen," he said," So maybe a simple ghast such as myself will prove useful..." Vedour hovered along with them, keeping a distance the size of the radius of the black fog surrounding him.

Vorspier's black mist began to fade from the outside in as Vedour said, "I am a ghost. I may become intangible and invisible as I please." The black fog continued dissipating, seamlessly into reality, fully exposing Vedour now, who continued, "Though, my master..." He chuckled grimly, not completing his sentence, only fading away slowly until only his four eyes remained -- strictly so that his allies could see him. "... The smell of the undead remains fresh in the air. Soothing for me, but ominous for you, perhaps..." Vedour's eyes floated over to them, hovering in place, now disembodied. "... Let us pray your brothers are safe... We are most benign, but the smell of these undead warriors... Is not."

Vorspier's presence now seemed nonexistent with the fog gone... Not that it was noticed, in the first place. Vedour kept all of the attention, but now it seemed like the attention had turned to what could be inferred as the 'smell of death' that Vedour caught whiff of earlier on. The four eyes floated to the scene, unflinching and without wince as they gazed upon what could be called very ambiguously a 'bloody mess'. Vedour was silent, as he was aware of what it was like for the living to uncover the dead -- or the soon-to-be.

Vorspier bid Vedour to investigate, as he was completely invisible. "... My... This is turning into quite the unfortunate series of events..." he said as he saw the figures treading through the forest. "We can be of assistance... For we may turn the undead... And raise the fallen..." Of course, Vedour's master had much more power than simply that, but Vedour alone was limited to only his natural ghastly abilities and those which were spoken. "... But should you need a cover, I can turn you into spirits temporarily, that your pursuers not observe nor touch you... Granted that they bear no enchantments..." This was Vedour's offer of camaraderie with them, as per bidding of his master. He was still invisible, and his master was still nowhere to be found.

Vorspier appeared now as part of the mist, though still remained unnoticed and untraceable. As the enemy brought upon the mist and passed through it, they would find themselves deluded to a point of utter incompetent confusion, as if to the will of the serpentine madam. Vedour already understood what it was like for his master to act like this and knew that he brought fortune this time around. "... Ah, ye are blessed... My master smiles upon you in your time of misfortune..." Vedour said. "Choose your destiny... And we will be with you."

Vorspier was able to notice the heavy enchantment upon the undead soldiers as he sought to command them, finding that his force of will was the only thing that deterred them for the short period of time that it did. Though harboring the ability to turn the undead, Vedour was aware that it would take a great deal of energy to ward off many of them, if their enchantments would allow it at all. Still invisible and his master still an ambiguous, unseeable mass, Vedour withdrew as Vorspier continued to mimic the form of the mist, constantly keeping watch over the soldiers, and hopefully serving as a makeshift deterrent without exposing himself. Vedour rested with his comrades, whispering, "If you need our skills, we offer them to you..."

Vorspier silently slipped back toward the group once the undead soldiers were gone, encircling Vedour and passively causing his area to ripple with invisible wavelengths. Sooner or later, Vedour reappeared, though only slightly, -- as, his image was still rather faded -- and the strange rippling of reality around him seemed to come to a conclusive halt once his form became visible. "... Ah, before you depart, there is one more thing I did not mention... About my master..." Vedour had been getting at it all night, but never actually said anything about it conclusively. "... He has no definite form. He is a Dream Vampire that can grant one's greatest dreams and worst nightmares. With his blessing, perhaps you may find favor in spite of your loss."

Vorspier understood them, as he was present the entire time, though silent. Vedour said, "Ah, yes... Very good..." He bowed his head to them as they departed, but mentioned ominously as they left, "... Do think about how the nightmares of one's enemies can be effectively used in battle... And how one of ambiguity can assist you again..." Vedour began to fade away, Vorspier's presence remaining unknown as of now. "We will be and not be... One day, we shall return... For our meeting was just a passing of fate... That your lives should be spared on this day." As he said this, his body faded until only his eyes were left. "Safe passage into town..." He closed his eyes and disappeared.

Vorspier observed the figure from his reflection in the water. There was no sign of his presence nor that he was there, for the reflection was just as normal as the person it reflected -- no differentiating factors. However, four narrow eyes suddenly phased into the area, followed by a hood that covered them, and finally a tattered cloak-like body with a wisping tail; it was a ghost. "... Good evening..." the ghost said.

Vorspier's ghost servant spoke out to the creature, "... Yes, very neutral. My will is barely my own... I am in servitude. Willingly, in fact..." He chuckled. "I am called Vedour... And I come here bearing no ill intent." He hovered a certain distance away from the fellow, seemingly over the reflection in the water. "... And you are...?"

Vorspier remained hidden as Vedour continued to speak. "Ah... It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance..." Vedour's voice was low and ominous, with a tone that was foreboding. "... Forgive me if this sounds strange to ask, but... What sort of rumors are there in this world...? I am a rumormonger, so to speak, and a seer of omens..." Vedour trailed off at the end, seeming to have more to say, yet speaking nothing.

Vorspier silently slipped into the shadow of Ryktrr, Vedour asking, "You are not of this world either? Then... Where are you from, might I ask?" The ghost hovered in a lax position, seemingly getting comfortable, folding the arms of his shroud-like body across itself, like one would do with a shawl.

Vorspier became a mysterious mist rather suddenly as Ryktrr explained himself. Vedour, his servant ghost, said to Ryktrr, "Most unfortunate... However..." Vedour trailed of suspiciously. "... It doesn't have to be..." As he spoke, the mist thickened, and his four eyes gleamed.

Vorspier's mist eased through the area, much like Vedour, who crept closer to the alien whilst saying, "... Ah. Very good. I just figured that you might have a dream of which you might wish to come true..." Trailing off again, Vedour chuckled grimly. "... Is that so, or am I incorrect?"

Vorspier withdrew the mist into an actual shape and form, which was that of a towering, foreboding individual of pure vapor. There were no distinguishing features about him at all, and the outline of his body made it seem like he was wrapped in a cloak, though the mist was just as featureless as the ambiguous being made of it. Vedour's eyes widened for a moment, then closed. "Nay, this is no trap nor trick... But an offer to your wildest dreams..." The ghost bowed and hovered behind the mist figure, which spake, "I am Vorspier, the Dream Vampire. I cause dreams and nightmares to become reality. I am master of Vedour, my ghost servant." He did not say anymore about himself, but stood silently, misty and ambiguous.

Vorspier was offended by the interaction and instead of bringing dreams into reality thought to bring forth nightmares. The mist comprising his temporary form blackened and converted into that of a large spider, which stood upon the water. It cast no reflection. Vedour, the haggard ghost, spoke out to insist his master not haunt the poor individual. "... Master, he knows not to whom he speaks... These people here know nothing of our existence... I humbly suggest we remain neutral to them for now, and I will speak on your behalf..." Vorspier hearkened to his faithful ghost servant Vedour and seeped into the water, becoming the water, itself. Vedour disappeared, reappearing relatively close to where the signs of life were, remaining silent.
