Crime Spree

Out of nowhere, in the utopia that was the Veritas, crime suddenly broke out in the Dusk. Not just ANY crime... Organized crime.

The man one could call the de facto 'leader' of the Valparaiso Denizens ended up here where the worst of the antagonism was taking place... An alleged 'crime spree' that was going on around the Dusk. Now, from what he knew -- and he knew a lot from the shadows talking -- the Dusk and the rest of the Mainland was supposed to be a utopia under the strict rule of the Royal Family that deliberately forbade the Valparaiso Denizens from coming into the Mainland for just this exact reason. A curious mystery to the man, he didn't understand how any type of 'crime' could have found its way back into the Veritas Mainland when the Valparaiso Denizens were run out and the original crime syndicate boss known as 'Mister Sir' was no longer running his own operations. Yeah, there was news about a few mishaps in the Dusk before, but not after the rightful Ruler came down and took her rightful place as Ruler.

This puzzled him slightly.

"Arright, we'll wait em out," the man said gruffly, waving his hand as if to away his compatriots, "Let em perform another few crimes and then snatch em up in the shadows. Take care of em real smooth." Shouldn't be a difficult task with the power of darkness on their side. Right?

There was a bank being robbed.

Now, most of the Veritas used Electronic Currency based on the Point System, but physical money was still good. It was just a cipher for the Electronic Currency, however.

Even so, a bank was robbed, and that money which represented the Electronic Currency of the Veritas people of the Dusk was being manhandled.

All the while, there were people in back alleys luring folks into the alleyways and killing them off in secret, away from the prying eyes of the Mechanica that lurked all around the city keeping a constant watch over it.

Some Mechanica were hacked into in order to prevent their movement, but that only lasted a short time because of how advanced they were. But in that short time, the criminals who were committing these acts of organized crime were escaping, and no one knew where to. The hackers followed their compatriots in their hacking, making paths of blind spots for them to run through whilst the criminals killed off whomever happened to be in the way at the time.

It was clear that someone somewhere was trying to take over the city... Illegally and through violence.

Omaru had just arrived at the Dusk mainland. He had left a bad impression about demons in the last city he was in but not this time! He was going to be a polite well behaved gentlemen and help those in need regardless of what his alter ego was suggesting to him. "Kill.....destroy.....you know you want to....just like the last time...", his alter ego whispered to him softly in his mind. "SHUT UP! It doesn't have to be this way....I am going to integrate with the people of this land and I am not going to let you ruin this for me! I am good....I am not like you...!!" Omaru responded back with reslience to the voice in his head. "Very well....but if I see something worth creating chaos....believe I will take over...." The voice warned, but Omaru ignored it as he walked through the city. It was then he saw couple dead bodies in an alley way that he made wrong turn into. "It seems I'm not the only bad apple in this city..." Omaru thought to himself as he wondered who could've done this.

The Valparaiso Denizens essentially took care of the cleanup that they were assigned to do for the twin Crystal City of the Dusk, La Crysta. Though they hadn't the coordinates of who was organizing this crime, they did have their eyes in the darkness capable of witnessing what was going on around the city.

"Fuck 'em up," the man who seemed to be the leader, dressed in relatively nice clothes, said to the others, who were rugged and in seemingly ragged clothing. At the word, the Valparaiso Denizens -- who had the power of darkness ever since they stole it and went to Hell -- would literally disappear into the shadows and become completely unseen and unheard. The only thing that could be noticed was that people who were committing crimes were suddenly being picked off, slowly but surely. They were snatched from out of their doings and pulled into the darkness, be it of their own shadows, the shadows in the area, or general dark places that they had to pass through in order to allegedly 'escape' justice. The Valparaiso Denizens weren't all that big on 'justice', but the heavy sum that Dr. Money paid them was enough to get them rolling over backwards for whatever cause they were paid to do for. They were hired help.

Whilst the criminals were being dragged into darkness, -- quite literally, at that -- the leader of the Valparaiso Denizens in his casual blazer and slacks took steps toward the new face in town, whom they'd not seen upon entering. "Hey, mac, whatcha doin' 'round these parts? Ain'tcha got somewhere better to be?" The man's gruff voice was nearly raspy like that of a heavy smoker, but still held its pitch. He wasn't fazed by the dead bodies... No, he'd seen them before, and was making more as they spoke by hand of his men. The Central City of the Dusk, La Crysta, was filled with people who were new and from other worlds or simply new faces coming for the tourism, but this guy just so happened to be the one that was taken notice of. The man lit a cigarette, waiting for the other guy to state his business in the back alleys of the Dusk.

"Huh?" Omaru turned to face the crime leader. "Uh...I was just....GWAH!...shit not again...!!" Omaru clenched his stomach...his alter ego was trying to take over... "I can't...control it...!! AhHHHHhH!!!" And with a scream, Omaru's hair turned red and eyes yellow facing the crime leader smiling with razor sharp teeth. "FRESH MEAT!!" Alter Omaru growled...as he bum rushed the leader of the Valparaiso Denizens punching a hole through his chest simultaneously with his demonic chi.

"HUAGH!!" The Valparaiso Denizen leader cried out as he was struck in his chest with powerful demonic chi energy. But what should have been certain death for him was just a passing of the wind when the darkness faded from around Omaru's arm's form and dissipated, the Valparaiso Denizen leader reappearing from the shadows behind him. "I ain't one to go down that easily, pal." When it was clear that Omaru was hostile, the leader whistled and called his boys back from the 'crime spree' cleanup and toward the back alley, where they would cut Omaru off by blocking off exits and surrounding him. "We've got the power of darkness on our side, pally. You ain't gettin' outta here alive."

The Valparaiso Denizens cracked their knuckles and brought out several weapons of different calibers -- from guns and knives to bats and chains. They were going to give Omaru a thrashing that he wouldn't be able to live from for trying to take down their boss like that. "Youse done it now!" one of them said, rushing Omaru with a bat, with a few following along. Many others immediately opened fire on him with handguns, whilst the rest waited to see what would become of him after being assaulted.

All the while this was happening in the back alley, there was someone looking down on the city from up above in a nice cozy office that seemed to have connections to the events that were going on down there. He had on a nice suit with a multitude of rings on his fingers, and he sat toward the window of his office with a cigar in his hand. "Look at those fools," he said, "They're already being lured out into the open." It seemed like the brains behind the crime spree was up high in his lofty place, his men being disposable to him. "I was waiting for the hired help to come and try to 'clean up'." He chuckled. "They don't know that they're dealing with a 'cleaner', themselves." He had more people in his organized crime unit, but he didn't send them out, even if he found them to be disposable. No, he was going to wait to see what became of this new development -- with Omaru and the Valparaiso Denizens. "This new fellow might just do the dirty work for me, and I can return to what we were doing before..."

Alter Omaru smirked as he easily deflected the bullets with his demonic chi energy. The female Valparaiso Denizen that came charging at him with a bat was grappled as Alter Omaru grabbed her wrists and tossed the bat aside. He then put her in a standing arm lock and decided to use her as a meat shield from his attackers. "Cmon now you wouldn't hurt a lady would ya?" Alter Omaru laughed keeping the women in front of him secure in his grasp. Seeing the other Valparaiso Denizens stop briefly for a second at the snare of their comrade Alter Omaru saw this as a chance to fly away from the situation with the girl in his hands. "You're coming with me babe...<3" Alter Omaru said as he flew atop a nearby building still keeping the female Valparaiso Denizen in an armlock. "Now....tell me why a pretty girl like you is working with ruffians like those bastards?" Alter Omaru asked in a teasing manner.

Though the Valparaiso Denizens were shaken by the sudden capture of one of their own, they weren't so easy to escape because they had the power of darkness on their side.

Valparaiso Denizen: "Hey! He just took off with one of our girls!"

The leader was upset by this, and snapped his fingers so that he and his boys disappeared into the darkness again.

Up on the rooftop of the building, the Valparaiso Denizen female was struggling to escape Omaru's grasp for a while, saying to him, "We're a family! We do everything together!" Eventually, she used the power of darkness to change into darkness and slip out of his grip, then solidify back with the group that appeared seemingly out of nowhere upon the rooftop.

Valparaiso Denizen Leader: "You ain't escapin' that easy, buddy. We're just gettin' started with ya."

The Valparaiso Denizens knew that gunfire wouldn't work on Omaru, so they had to use their special powers over darkness. They each concentrated and used their own shadows to wrap around Omaru's legs to keep him in place, binding him to the rooftop whilst they thought of what to do to him afterward.

It was a surprise to the man that sat in his office to see Omaru pass by on the winds and up to the rooftop of HIS building. It was rather unexpected, and things could have gone south very quickly if Omaru decided to fight with the Valparaiso Denizens. Both of the parties had to be stopped.

The man made a quick call to his secretary and spoke to her about sending in special operatives to deal with the crisis on the roof. Before long, there were men in nice suits busting through the rooftop door with rifles and other guns in their hands, ready to kill anyone that wasn't one of them on sight.

"How'd she do that?" Alter Omaru thought to himself as began to realize the darkness had binded his movements. He raised his hands in surrender as the special operatives surrounded him with all sorts of firepower. "Hmm....I'll leave this to you Omaru." And with that Omaru reverted back to his innocent form as his hair and eyes turned dark brown again. "Wha...Hey! What the hell is going on here!? Oh shit what did I do AGAIN!" Omaru looked confused as there so many guns directed towards him. "Okay whatever I did...I promise it wasn't ME!!!" The young man was now at the mercy of his captors....He can only use the bulk of his demonic chi energy if his Alter form takes over and right now he was left hanging...without the ability to move.

The Valparaiso Denizens knew that conventional weapons like guns could not harm them as long as they could turn into darkness, so what they did was turn into darkness and use the same power to halt Omaru on the men with the guns, except the shadows would reach all the way up to their arms. The leader then turned his attention back to Omaru.

"Save it, guy," the Valparaiso Denizen leader said bluntly, "You tried to kill me and also tried to kidnap one of our own. We ain't lettin' ya out." The keen leader did, however, notice the changes in Omaru as he spoke and told them that he was a different person. This caught the leader's attention.

"Huh," the leader grunted, releasing the shadows, "You seem like you're tellin' the truth. You ain't our mark, so you ain't part of our business." The Valparaiso Denizens had a clear-cut mission to achieve, and that was to find the source of the organized crime. "We've been hired by Dr. Money to stop the crime that has suddenly sprouted up 'round the Dusk City, but it is turning out to be not as simple as that." He pointed to the others that were there trying to kill them and said, "See? They're more of the people we just picked off, and we don't know where they're coming from." But it was time for some interrogation.

The Valparaiso Denizen leader walked up to the group and asked them blatantly, "Who sent you? Who do you work for? If you don't tell us, you'll be trapped in darkness for the rest of your days."

The men were wrapped up in the darkness and disarmed for the time being, unable to move because of the shadows. "What?! Let us go!" they demanded before they were interrogated. "You don't know?" one of them asked, chuckling a little. "This building belongs to our boss. He's a crime lord, and he wants to take the city for himself." The guy smirked. "That's about all you need to know, though. Trust that there are more of us than there are of you, and your fancy powers won't work on all of us." They had numbers and organization, so they could overwhelm the Valparaiso Denizens and cut off their powers somehow. "What happens to us doesn't matter. There are more of us all throughout the building, and our boss won't let you get to him." The men all looked at the Valparaiso Denizens smugly. "Do your worst."

Meanwhile, the crime lord was busy receiving word from one who wasn't captured by the shadows about what happened. "Hm," he wondered, "How am I going to deal with those meddlesome hitmen with the special powers? Numbers might be on my side, but if they are exceptionally powerful... I'll lose a lot of men for no reason." The crime lord thought. He still had the main halls and stairs secured by his men, though, so no one could get past.

It wasn't long before a Dimension Gate opened up on the rooftop, a teenaged looking girl with a casual wifebeater and jogging pants stepping out of it. "I thought I sensed some demonic energy..." she said, her short, brown, straight hair slightly covering her eyes. She was just getting back from doing something on another world for the Royal Family, which she found out she was part of just recently after rebelling. She looked to Omaru, reading his wavelengths. "It's you," she said blandly, walking up to him, "You've got demonic power in ya. What's that all about?"

Omaru looked at the angel who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere to help him in the nick of time. "A reasonable voice!", he thought to himself and quickly answered. "You could say I'm sort of a loose cannon....the demonic energy comes from my other self. We share one body, but he likes to....obstruct my desire to live a life of solidarity. I am unable to join any group or organization because I can't control him....I need to find find someone that can help me seal away his ability to posses me or at least teach me how to manage him!" Omaru then turned his head to the Valparaiso Denizen leader. "I...I'm not a bad guy....I'm just designed that way!! T__T Take me to jail if you must, but please find me a sage or demon expert of some sort to help control this monster....I have dreams too ya know T__T...."

Without a second thought, the Valparaiso Denizens sucked the hitmen into darkness and made them disappear forever. The ruthless bunch known as the Lawless Ones remained now with Omaru and... A new face they'd never seen before.

"Callin' fer backup, is ya?" the Valparaiso Denizen leader asked. But, Omaru, right now, didn't seem to be a threat. "We don't believe in jail 'round here. It's do or die; kill or be killed." The rest of the Valparaiso Denizens chuckled. "We're here as hitmen to stop some crime from happenin' here, paid by the one Dr. Money so that this place can get 'cleaned up', if you catch my drift." So far, they'd only come to the point where they'd found the location of the crime lord, but they still needed to infiltrate the building.

"Tell ya what," the Valparaiso Denizen leader said to Omaru, "If you can manage to take out the crime boss here, and keep it our little secret, we won't skin ya alive." The Lawless Ones chuckled again. "Ya think yer gonna accept that offer, kiddo?"

The crime boss heard and saw everything that happened on the rooftop via a surveillance camera, which was spot on the Lawless Ones, Omaru, and Karu. "Huh," he grunted as his men were taken down with ease, "They're planning on storming my headquarters." He stroked his chin. "I'll just let my boys handle things when they try to get inside."

Inside, there were lots of other crime members that had special powers, unlike the ones that were taken into the darkness. They were special operatives that were given the positions because of their abilities to use powers. They hid in secret wherever they could, but kept weapons and powers ready to ambush whomever would come through the doors from the roof and into the building.

Karu, who was unfazed by everything going on, stood with a deadpan expression on her face as Omaru and the Valparaiso Denizens spoke. "Yo, I'm not here to save anybody," she said blatantly, "I was just coming to check out what that demonic energy was." Now that she knew, she could be on her way...

But then she realized that she was bored and didn't want to just leave something like this when she could very well go and destroy someone or something with her powers. She smirked, then said to Omaru, "I'll help ya out." She looked to the Valparaiso Denizen leader. "Both of you." Her idea of 'fun' was to destroy, and this was the ample opportunity to do just that. She couldn't pass it up.

"So. Omaru," Karu said with a monotonous tone, "If you make it out alive, I'll take you to someone who can help with your power. If not, though, I'm not saving your ass." She placed a hand on her hip. "I'm only here to have some fun." Still, she couldn't help but think that the demon inside of him was something like 'The Insanity' within her, and she felt a tiny sliver of compassion. But not too much. "Whenever you're ready, we can go," Karu said. "But I can read heat signatures with my Heat Sorcery abilities and it seems like there are a lot of them waiting to ambush us inside. We'll have to fight our way through." Karu started walking toward the door, pounding her fist into her hand. "I hope you aren't weak..." she said as she made it to the door, ready to open it...

"So uh...you got a boyfriend?" Omaru asked as Karu opened the door revealing a swarm of heavily armed soldiers. He charged in front of Karu creating a sword and shield with from his chi energy and began to slash through his enemies while blocking their artillery like the Hero class from the Fire Emblem series. "Hope that this will last awhile..." Omaru thought hoping he would be able stay in control of the fight instead of his inner demon taking over. As he was slashing opponents he saw Karu holding her own. "Shes good..." He thought barely dodging a knife to the face. He can't die here....he still wanted to get his favorite heroes autograph....and drink her magic honey...XD "I can't believe I agreed to this....the big boss sure has some lofty goals in mind..." Omaru kept dodging bullets and flying daggers as he continued to run through enemies slashing their heads off with his energy blade.

The ones seeking to do the ambushing were ambushed instead by Omaru and Karu, who were bid by the Valparaiso Denizens. Much of their blood was spilled as the duo headed down the stairs and toward where the crime lord rested. However, there were still those who had greater powers than the people who were so easily slain in the stairwell.

As Omaru and Karu reached the lower levels, men came out from the doors wielding the power to control energy, and were capable of holding off Omaru's special ability to control his demon chi with their own energy bending abilities. The attacks from Omaru would do nothing to them and they would end up threatening his life by the use of their special powers rather than weapons. With control over energy, they tried to turn Omaru's own energy against him and have it destroy him from the inside out, until he was no more.

The crime boss, who was watching the entire time, felt threatened by the two who were coming for him... But they didn't know where nor who he was. But, clearly, the boss of the outfit stood out above the henchmen, so it wasn't hard to differentiate them. "I gotta get outta here..." the crime boss said, rising from his chair. "Send all of my men to the higher floors where the two intruders are gathered and make a path for me to escape!" the crime lord commanded. He was immediately escorted out by two powerful looking people, making their way to the elevators.

"No," Karu responded rather angrily at Omaru's question as she used her powers of Heat Sorcery to deal with the people that were immediately in their way, "And I'm not lookin' for one either." Suddenly, out of her wrists came large blades that started to spin, creating a helicopter effect that allowed her to both shred through and blow away anyone that got in their way. Karu's nonchalant death spree came to a sudden halt when Omaru was endangered, however. "You'd better be able to handle yourself," she said to him. She didn't seem like she was there to help him, but to just kill people for the hell of it. "Let's see you kill these guys and I might think about some type of interaction with you beyond just this killing spree."

But Karu, using her Heat Sorcery, could see through the heat signatures of people through the walls, and she found a distinct heat signature belonging to someone trying to escape. "I think I see the crime boss on one of the lower levels," she said. She couldn't see through walls, she could only see heat signatures, so she wasn't able to tell where he was going, but only that he was going somewhere at all. "I think he's trying to escape..." She looked to Omaru, then to the people who were using his energy against him. "Nature Destruction..." Karu uttered, pointing her arm at them and spinning her blades like a helicopter again. A large beam of energy shot out that literally destroyed the natural makeup of those that were in the way.

After that, she proceeded without a word down the stairs toward the crime boss, not waiting up for Omaru, nor seeing if he was alright. She was on a mission to take down this crime lord, be it by herself or with Omaru. He had to handle himself.

Omaru's inner demon snickered. "You got treated bro..." "Shut up!" Omaru yelled as he struggled to deal with the leftover soldiers below proceeding to follow Karu downstairs. He used the fact that they wanted to destroy him with his own power from the inside out to his advantage. By the soldiers forcing their way into Omaru's inner cavities, his regeneration factor kicked in allowing him to tap into even more demonic chi energy than before giving him a boost of strength. By just the swing of his energy sword he was able to create an after image wave affect that cut the remaining soldiers in half."If you let me take over....this would be a cinch." Alter Omaru whispered, but Omaru ignored him. "W-wait for me Karu!" Omaru stammered as he ran down the stairs to support her.

Karu and Omaru successfully defeated the thugs that were on the lower levels of the stairway, letting them pass to the floor where the crime boss was on. He, however, was already boarding one of the elevators and left one of the two men that were beside him to fend off the duo.

The man was hulking and overwhelming, giving off a presence of power just by his appearance and energy alone. He did not say a word to them, but he clenched his fist when he saw Karu and Omaru coming and a wave of pure power shot toward them, ripping up the floor where they tried to pass and likely tearing them apart from the force alone. He was clearly more powerful than the others and wouldn't go down so easily.

Meanwhile, the crime boss would be making his way to the bottom of the building, where he would have more henchmen stationed to slow down Karu and Omaru should they pass his personal bodyguard. "Get the car!" he shouted to the other bodyguard that was with him, and the two of them would rush toward the door.

Karu and Omaru were faced with the bodyguard that was standing before the elevator to get downstairs. Without warning, the floor burst upward from in front of Karu and underneath her. However, she pointed her arm blades at the oncoming force and repelled it with a counteracting force of her own by revolving the blades at an ultra high speed like a plane. This counteracted the force, but still destroyed the hallway. Fortunately, that meant that there was an opening in the floor.

"That guy's big, but not smart," Karu said as she hopped down to the next floor. She said nothing to Omaru, but she did catch the elevator. She didn't seem like she wanted to wait, and she also didn't seem to care if Omaru was caught up with the dude upstairs or not. Omaru only had seconds before the elevator door closed.
