Out of nowhere, in the utopia that was the Veritas, crime suddenly broke out in the Dusk. Not just ANY crime... Organized crime.

Karu and Omaru were faced with the bodyguard that was standing before the elevator to get downstairs. Without warning, the floor burst upward from in front of Karu and underneath her. However, she pointed her arm blades at the oncoming force and repelled it with a counteracting force of her own by revolving the blades at an ultra high speed like a plane. This counteracted the force, but still destroyed the hallway. Fortunately, that meant that there was an opening in the floor.

"That guy's big, but not smart," Karu said as she hopped down to the next floor. She said nothing to Omaru, but she did catch the elevator. She didn't seem like she wanted to wait, and she also didn't seem to care if Omaru was caught up with the dude upstairs or not. Omaru only had seconds before the elevator door closed.

"Your girlfriend's got spunk", the massive bodyguard said as he threw a punch which Omaru blocked with his demonic energy shield while using his other hand to slice the man's arm off with his sword which he had made from chi energy. "AHHHH!!! SHIT!!! GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The man screamed as his arm fell to the floor. "Yeah I did you a favor. That would've been your head if she heard you say that." Omaru responded as he ran for the elevator throwing his energy shield at the elevators door to prevent it from closing. "Would it kill ya to slowdown a bit? No need to rush the mission...lets have some coffee..." Omaru joked as he slipped through the elevator entrance. His demonic alter ego took over as he stepped in front of Karu face to face. "From what I've observed....you have detached air about you...I wonder....what caused this transformation inside of you...I am sure you use to have a bubbly personality....maybe even had a few pet kittens....heh..." Omaru attempted to startle her by almost grazing her cheek with a blast of energy that zoomed past her like a bullet, but she didn't even flinch. "Hoho...I like you!" Alter Omaru smiled as he walked out the elevator's entrance seeing as it has made it to the desired floor.

With the bodyguard on the higher floor dealt with by Omaru, that only left the guards on the lowest floor, who were doing their best to stand in the way of the two. Some bore energy shields, others had the power to nullify other abilities, and some were just there to be cannon fodder. Those that could nullify energy sent waves of their nullification toward Karu and Omaru on sight, giving them almost no time to react unless they were able to preemptively predict what was going to happen when they got off of the elevator.

Bullets flew, too, at the two, as the bodyguards who were cannon fodder shot at them immediately after the waves of nullification were sent out.

Those that had energy barriers would create a blockade in front of the door so that there would be no escape for the duo, and the guards held their ground.

Meanwhile, the crime boss and his seemingly most trusted bodyguard would get to the getaway car, the bodyguard pulling up before the crime boss with a screeching halt. He quickly got in and said, "Step on it," before tire screeching could be heard and the car zooming down the city streets of the technologically advanced Dusk City. They aimed to lose Karu and Omaru in all of the commotion of the outside world so that they could get away and go to a place that they could lay low at for a while... But they had to watch out for Servicemen, who were the mechanical law enforcers that stood on every corner and directed everything in the city. As long as the crime boss and his bodyguard followed the rules, they would not be stopped by the Servicemen.

"I really don't. I was created out of weapons and manna by my Spider Queen," Karu said blandly. "I have never once even seen a kitten, but I assure you, I'd have killed it." It was clear Omaru was dead wrong about Karu's distant personality -- it was who she was and how she was made, since she was artificially created.

"No time for that," she said as she used her 'Nature Destruction' abilities to destroy the nature of the nullification energy coming towards them and neutralize is so that it was a harmless breeze, "We've got company." Bullets flew quickly, but Karu used the spinning blades on her wrist to deflect them like a shield whilst also shooting herself forward with a powerful burst. She'd rend whatever was in her way and reach the energy barriers, giving no fuck about the attempt at slowing her down. "Nature Destruction!" she cried, shattering the very foundation of the nature of the barriers of energy.

"Kill 'em!" Karu shouted to Omaru as she made the opening for him.

“YOSH...IKUUUUZOOOOO!!!!!!!” Alter Omaru charged forward leaving behind afterimages of himself because of how fast he was moving. The enemy could not keep up with his instantaneous movement and were left with the only option of shooting bullets in random directions. “Heh what’s a matter can’t catch what you can’t see!?” Alter Omaru taunted as he beheaded the soldiers one by one with his energy sword. “Heh too easy GWAH! Not again...” Alter Omaru struggled with his human side. “I told you...not to...kill anyone...!!” Omaru said regaining control of his body. “Grah...!! Karu told me too! You need to wake up and smell the coffee buddy, this no abstinence from murder ain’t gonna last as long as I am inside if you...!!” Alter Omaru counter as his presence dissipated back into the demonic seal on Omaru’s chest. “Oh yeah!? Well....Katy’s gonna find away to control you....then I can show her what it means to be human....by marrying and getting the blessing of her mother...the Spider Queen! Isn’t that right Miss Karu?” Omaru smiled at her awkwardly scratching his head. He’s a weird one that’s for sure...

The bodyguards fell one by one to Omaru as Karu gave him the opening, and the doorway was cleared. However, the crime boss was already driving away, and the Servicemen hadn't stopped his car at all. Their only saving grace was that he was in the middle of traffic, and he wasn't able to go the way he wanted to.

"Mother fuck!" he cried, slamming his hand down on his velvet seat, "We've gotta turn around!" He didn't know that Karu and Omaru made it out alive, and his bodyguard turned the car around so that they could take a detour that had less traffic. Now the car was headed back in the direction of Karu and Omaru, and would zoom right past them as it drove by. The crime boss noticed them as he passed them by and said to his bodyguard, "Step on it! They're still alive!"

Of course, to prevent being held up, the crime boss had to obey the laws of the road in Dusk City because of the Servicemen that stood at every corner, watching everything that everyone did. They were Mechanica and served under their ruler, Mechanica, and were each linked to each other by a network server that was Mechanica, herself. Therefore, there was no escape when one Serviceman caught someone breaking the law.

That seemed to be the only reason the crime boss kept himself from speeding in a panic when he saw the two.

Karu gazed at Omaru with a disdainful frustration when he said what he did to her. "I'm going to kill you," was all that she said as she aimed her hand with the blades on the wrist at him. She was going to use her Nature Destruction to destroy the nature of his chi, like she'd done with everything else that was affected by Nature Destruction. Her power almost rivaled her Creator because of his blessing, and her 'mother' -- his daughter -- was the Spider Queen that made her. "My Queen is not--"

Before Karu could finish, she noticed the car zip by. With her Heat Sorcery, she was able to see heat signatures, and could tell that it was the crime boss and his final bodyguard. "Tch." Karu didn't even acknowledge Omaru after that, but took off toward the car at a high speed by extending blades from her ankles and having them spin like a plane's propellers. She flew at a high speed, leaving Omaru to either find a way to catch up or not come at all. Either way, Karu caught up to the car rather quickly.

Landing atop it and retracting all of her blades on her body, she used Heat Sorcery to blow the engine of the car and cause it to break down. After that, she ripped a hole in the roof of the car and jumped down into it. "It's over for you," Karu said to the crime boss, her body heat intensifying severely.

Suddenly, there was an explosion from her, and the car as well as everyone within it blew up to smithereens.

Omaru watched mesmerized as the car exploded. “Miss Karu are you okay!?” Omaru shouted as he caught up to the crime scene, finding Karu unscathed from the accident. “Why’d you kill him!? We could have brought him back to the boss alive for interrogation! Or at least here what he had to say. My mother always said....nobody is entirely good or evil. There’s always a reason for everything...then again I’m not sure that applies to this situation.” Omaru stared at the car set aflame by Karu’s explosion. “Your...a monster. And that’s coming from a guy with a demon inside of him.” Omaru said a little intimidated by the girls power.

???: "Yeh got the job done, eh? Good shit."

A voice spoke out of nowhere before the one to whom it belonged stepped out from the dark shadows of the alleyway. It was the Valparaiso Denizen leader that they did this mission for in the first place.

Valparaiso Denizen: "We wanted him dead. The girl did a good job."

He stepped closer to the blazing scene of destruction and smirked at the two. "Well, thanks a billion for taking care of our lightweight. Now there shouldn't be anymore crime happenin' in the city... That we know about." He paused. "Or that we were assigned to stop." Normally, Valparaiso Denizens weren't allowed in the Mainland of the Veritas because they were ruffians that didn't obey laws, which was why they lived in the Lawless Land of Valparaiso. But because of Dr. Money paying them to stop the crime in the city, they were allowed here temporarily.

"Anyways, yeah, that don't go expectin' nothin' outta this. We didn't agree to any rewards or nothin'." He smirked grimly, then started to back up -- into the shadows. "Ya might wanna deal with the aftermath of this situation, though... It probably ain't gonna be pretty, and it ain't my problem no more." He laughed as he disappeared completely without a trace, leaving Karu and Omaru to the Servicemen and other Mechanica that were probably going to apprehend them for doing something so destructive. The Valparaiso Denizens were well informed for being outcasts of the Mainland, and it was mostly because nowadays, things worked similarly in the Lawless Land due to the Mechanica gentrifying it.

But that's another story.

What happened after the car exploded was simple: The Servicemen that were posted at the street corner went on high alert and immediately ran toward the blazing destruction to investigate the situation. Being Mechanica, they were able to analyze things with their computer brains and assess everything without needing to ask too many questions.

Karu and Omaru were the suspects on the list of the Servicemen, since they were the only ones who were there at the scene of the crime.

"Halt!" cried the Servicemen, of which there were only two... For the moment. "You have violated the law and are guilty of murder! We have recorded you blowing up this vehicle and whomever was inside, and now we're going to take you two in!" The Servicemen were like the police, but machines, and also did more tasks than a typical police force.

Servicemen: "You're under arrest!"

Before anything else could occur, the voice of a commanding woman spake with an echo, "Stop," and the Servicemen would be halted where they were, no matter what they were doing. In the sky, floating down on black dragon wings and wearing a gothic crinoline was a blond haired woman with two curly drill-like pigtails, who wore long black gloves hat resembled spiderwebs and a spider pendent on her chest. Her eyes were a piercing red and there was a spiderweb themed fan up to her face.

"That's Quite Enough," she said, her voice elegant and lofty, yet commanding and powerful. She landed before Karu and Omaru and said to them, "I Am Queen Archdeath, Ruler Of The Entire Dusk Continent, And Specifically La Crysta, The Crystal City Of Dusk, Where We Reside. The Mechanica Are Mine To Command As Well As Everything Else In The City." Her presence should have brought awe and reverence to the faces of the Dusk Citizens, for they knew their Queen very well. "I Am One Of The Forms Of The 'Spider Queen' That Karu Speaks Of. This Form Is My Form As Queen Of This Continent." She looked to Karu, smiling deviously. "You've Done Well, My Pet... I Will Pardon You For Murder Because I Know The Situation, As Well As Your Purpose."

Folding her fan, Queen Archdeath looked to Omaru with a gaze that could pierce one's soul. "I Don't Believe I've Had The Pleasure," she said to him, "But As I Said, You Meet With The Queen Of The Continent, As Well As Karu's Mistress. I Am Psychic, Like My Father, So I Can Read Your Mind And Tell Everything I Need To Know About You." Which she did. Just like that, she knew Omaru, his demon, and his background. This made her hum with inquisition. "What To Do With You, Omaru?" She immediately read Karu's mind and knew what was going to happen with him. "Ah, Karu Intends To Send You To See Father... Well, One Of His Forms, Anyway. Lovely." Queen Archdeath laughed lightly. "And For The Record, Omaru, I Have No Interest In Marriage With You. Think About It Again And I Will Show You Why I Am Called 'Queen Archdeath'." Her eyes gleamed for a moment and she extended her fan before her face again, awaiting responses from both Karu and Omaru.

Karu was about to talk to Omaru when she was confronted by Queen Archdeath, one of the forms of her Spider Queen. "My Queen!" Karu said with shock, "I didn't know you were watching!" Still, she pardoned Karu and Omaru in the streets of La Crysta, so it was clear that they were off the hook. Karu knelt down to one knee and lowered her head. "Yes, I promised him that I'd help him control his power," she admitted to her psychic Mistress, "So I'm taking him to the Creator." Karu turned her bowed head to Omaru and glared at him as if she was waiting for him to show the royal Queen some respect. She said and did nothing more, however.

Omaru was dazzled by the Queen’s appearance. Her form had triggered his transformation into his demon Alter Ego. “Why hello there beautiful...you’ve intoxicated me with your spiderweb of beauty....I’d like to get to know you better, but I’m in a bit of a dilemma...my human host and I don’t see eye to eye nor do we have the same goal in mind....he wishes to suppress me....but if you were to make the dominant part of his soul and allow me to remain in control...I would serve thee- GWAH!” Alter Omaru was cutoff by his human side. “Don’t listen to him, his loyalties reside with his desires!” Omaru turned to Karu. “Please take me to the Creator before things get out of hand.”

Already aware of the demon's intentions, Queen Archdeath brushed off what would normally incur her wrath and would leave that to her lovely subject, Karu, whenever she got the chance.

Fanning herself, Queen Archdeath closed her sharp eyes and giggled lightly, extending her arm outward, her finger barely pointing at Omaru after he reverted to his human self. "I See That The Demon Within You Is Powerful, But It Isn't As Malign As You May Believe. You Are One Of The Tainted, Yes, But So Is My Dear Karu. You See, She Is Afflicted By The Curse Of My Family -- The Insanity -- And Is A Contamination To Us. However, Because She Has Learned Her Purpose After Seeing My Father And Being Disciplined Thoroughly, As Well As Beholding Myself After Years Of Her Slumber, The Insanity Within Her Is Under Control." Queen Archdeath smiled, opening her eyes partially and lowering her hand. "Essentially, We Intend To Do The Same With You, So That You May Live In Homeostasis With Your Demon And Not Behold It As A Parasite That Has Dominion Over You And Your Body."

The Tensei -- which was the Royal Family, and what Queen Archdeath was -- saw their Family Curse as a rite of passage after taming it, for they were all born with and afflicted by The Insanity at some point. "My People Are Born Pure, But Can Succumb To The Family Curse At Any Time If They Are Weak, And Then Become Tainted... As You And Karu Are." Queen Archdeath furrowed her brow. "We Do Not Look Highly Upon Demons, For We Have Dealt With Them For Quite A Long Time. We Are Gods, The All Of Us, And As Such, Demons Are Not Agreeable With Our Existence. Not By Our Will, But By Theirs." It was a sad truth. Demons had inherent evil within them that made Gods and Goddesses shun them, which in turn spurred demons to act on their wicked instincts.

"We Faced Once A Demon God Known As 'Falshin', And The Name 'Falshin' Is What We Call All Demon Gods... Which You Will Turn Into If You Allow Your Demon Inside Of You To Have Control So Much, Omaru." The Falshin did exist, but not anywhere in the Mainland. They were promptly exterminated if they so much as touched the clean land that was the Veritas' Mainland. "You Need A Balancing Force To That Evil Within You... An Angel, So To Speak... And, Fortunately For You, My Father, In One Of His Forms, Is The Angel KING, As Well As King Of ALL The Veritas Planet." Queen Archdeath turned from facing Karu and Omaru, seeming to have finished speaking with them. She said, "I Will Open A Dimension Gate And Send You Both To Him Right Now. He Reigns Underground In The Underground City Beneath The Planet, And Has Made His Throne There Whilst We, His Daughters, And Our Mother Govern The Surface And Overworld."

With the final parting words of, "That Is All," she would wave her hand and a distortion appeared between herself and Karu and Omaru. They would not be able to see her beyond this portal, as it was blocking their vision, but it would lead them to the underground city where the Angel King ruled -- the Depthsroot.

As soon as they entered, the portal, which was a Dimension Gate, would close behind them, and Queen Archdeath would have disappeared.

With Queen Archdeath having opened up a Dimension Gate to the Depthsroot, Karu immediately rose and said, "Come on," to Omaru. She was about to walk through, but stopped and said, "Omaru. Demon. Next time, if you don't show some respect to my Queen, I'll destroy you." Karu was the serious but nonchalant type, but she was also a born killer, literally born to kill and destroy. "Be lucky that I even am helping you out at all. That demon's mouth gets on my nerves." With that, Karu stepped forth through the Dimension Gate and to the Depthsroot, where she awaited Omaru to follow behind her.

“Falshin....” Omaru thought you himself. Becoming a Falshin....Omaru shivered at the thought.... how much more powerful a demon he would become....but he would lose himself as a result. If he did become a Falshin....would there be away to control it? Omaru realizing that Karu was already on the move he quickly followed her. “S-sorry Miss Karu, I’ll try to keep him under control. But I’m confused....the spider queen is your mother isn’t she? Why don’t you address her as such?” Omaru wondered why Karu’s family was so strict....it reminded him of his highschool days in Korea when he was living with a host family of a friend of his....Karu was giving off that study hard and become a doctor vibe. Regardless Omaru was excited to meet Karu’s grandfather the Angel King, maybe even get a letter of recommendation from this high order society he’d be visiting...he would have to prove himself though. Marrying into the family was out of the question since Karu doesn’t seem to have a desire for such a thing... she would make a good nun... a nun with killer instincts...Omaru chuckled at the thought of Karu wearing a nun outfit while using her sharp blades to make sinners repent...”Thanks Karu for helping me. I wanna be able to return the favor when I get my power under control...there’s gotta be something you want...I refuse to believe you your just content serving your superiors...Maybe you could expand the territory of your mom- I mean the Spider Queen. Although that might be tough in a place as corrupt as Dusk City.” Omaru wanted to help Karu do something that would bring her some sort of satisfaction. He was attracted to her...but it was hard to resonate with her given her background.
