Rainbow Bay

Baby Genome -- A person that was created literally out of nowhere. It has no backstory, for it was freshly made, born literally as it is and destined never to change, fully containing everything that it is and will be in its nature. It has tribal markings all over its body that glow to symbolize when its inherent genetics have been activated. A child, yet also an adult, its first moments of life are discovering itself becoming conscious.

Baby Genome lay bare in the streets, skin a pale gray with some dark, tribal markings all over them. The person had strange features -- such as no belly button nor genitals -- but it was clear that it was... Some sort of person. It was breathing and in plain sight, but again, stark naked.

Baby Genome laid there in the street for an extended period of time, eyes wide open, yet blank -- nearly soulless. Beyond breathing, it was not moving. The tribal patterns all over its body seemed to symbolize something, but held no connection whatsoever to who or what this was nor where it came from.

Baby Genome's tribal markings, upon being touched, began to glow, and consciousness found its way to its being. The first thing that came out of its mouth was incoherent babbling -- or, perhaps ancient forgotten tongue -- that sounded like a baby. It was trying to communicate, but was also taken aback by all of the things that it was surrounded by. Falling silent, what was known as 'Baby Genome' would look around and try to make sense of what everything was. Eventually, it looked to the person who touched it and cooed sweetly.

Baby Genome was about to touch the face of the woman that was dealing with it when suddenly, it heard a sharp and loud noise from a different direction, causing its markings to glow. Baby Genome began to cry, but rose up to a sitting position, wriggling its legs around. Knowing nothing, it was unable to walk. It looked around as it cried, seeing the other person toddling along. Its markings glowed after seeing the toddling. The strange people were now common for Baby Genome to see, but it did not stop crying.

Baby Genome's eyes continued to water, but the voice of someone soothing it caused it to feel comforted, and at that moment, the markings on it began to glow again. The tears from its eyes dried and it suddenly started to imitate the spiny lady and through some incoherent babbling eventually came to say, "Okay... Okay...!" For some reason it understood the emotions of the one before it and also the language, but immediately afterward, the markings stopped glowing. Wriggling its legs around again, it made happy cooing noises whilst waving its arms triumphantly.

Baby Genome had seen someone toddling along before. The inherent capability to walk -- or rather, to toddle -- was activated once it was exposed to the event consciously. However, Baby Genome was ignorant of this fact about itself, for it was barely just waking up. "Walk...?" it asked, confused about the word. Still, it wanted to move its legs like that other person did. On its own, it stood up, hobbling and wobbling a bit, ultimately toddling around in a fashion like a drunkard would. It began to babble incoherently again, as if attempting to speak to the woman, but knowing no words.

Baby Genome did not understand what she was saying. It only understood the ancient tongue of the babes, which was both its native and only tongue. However, deep inside, Baby Genome had the capacity to learn any language it was exposed to. This being a fact, once Aymin said the word 'help' and showed Baby Genome what that meant, the markings began to glow once more. "H-Help...?" It attempted to imitate her once again, questioning if it was doing what she was doing correctly. It seemed to think that she was teaching it, even if she literally wasn't.

Baby Genome noticed that the hedgehog was looking at the markings on Baby Genome's body. For some reason, it knew exactly what those were and what they meant, but could only express itself through babbling. It had high hopes that Aymin would be able to comprehend what it was saying, because it knew what its markings were. It knew nothing of what the word 'magical' meant, nor 'malarkey'... Nor 'this' nor 'is' or 'kind', in fact. Concentrating hard, Baby Genome's markings glowed again, and it pointed to its head, giving an expression that was stern. It seemed that the longer it stayed conscious and was exposed, the faster it matured. With that, it could process those words. It pointed at its head and continued babbling, pointing to the markings.

Baby Genome understood what she said whilst the markings glowed and laughed when she made a joke, seeming to be able to remarkably comprehend the complexity of everything that she was saying. From the words it knew, it could say to her, "I... Talk... To... Stuff." It also understood the words 'magical' and 'mysterious', finding itself saying, "Not... Magical..." It pointed to the glowing runes. "Look..." It traced the markings' lines up to its head, then gave a concentrated expression, as if attempting to make sense through body language and facial expression. "Teach..." Baby Genome said, markings finally stopping their glow after the events of its conscious maturation.

Baby Genome cocked its head to the side, not really understanding the question being asked. The markings glowed. It began to babble some more after it understood the question, trying to say that it was a... Person of some sort. It didn't have the vocabulary to explain what it was, but it definitely knew inherently. Everything it knew and learned was inherent, and there was nothing that it was capable of doing that was outside of what a normal person could. Perhaps some books would help. "So... what are you?" it repeated in the same tone.

Baby Genome was still glowing when Aymin spoke and understood what she was saying. Baby Genome shook its head, saying, "No..." before trying to use what tones it had collected from Aymin's speech to put its own words together. "I... Are... A... Baybee." It was literally born of this world out of this world, but created as is. Other than the capacity to unlock its own potential when the markings on it glowed, there was nothing unusual about it... Except maybe the gray skin and lack of genitals. It was still naked. "I... Are... Mimic... You..." Baby Genome seemed to be getting fatigued, and the glowing lessened significantly.

Baby Genome nodded its head and did as it was instructed. After a little while, it walked around in a similar fashion to Aymin, not having much trouble any longer. After that, the dim glowing came to a soft silence, and Baby Genome's eyes grew heavy. It rubbed its eyes a bit, but asked Aymin again, "So... What are you?" It was clear that she was not like Baby Genome... But it didn't know what WAS like it, either.

Baby Genome when Aymin started speaking, there was faint glowing on Baby Genome's body, and it nodded its head sleepily. "Ay-Min... The... Hedj-Hawg." Baby Genome pointed to itself and said, "I'm... Baby Genome." It knew its own name because of the inherent knowledge within. It always knew its name, but didn't know how to say it in Aymin's tongue. "Nice to meet you!" Baby Genome smiled, then yawned, the markings completely ceasing to glow. Tired, Baby Genome yawned again rather loudly and looked around for a place to sleep, rubbing its eyes.

Baby Genome understood the gestures more than the words, having only a rather broken understanding of it all. It understood some words, and others, it didn't. But what it did comprehend was that she was trying to 'help', and it linked together that this meant that she was trying to find it a place to sleep. Baby Genome smiled and cooed cutely, nodding its head and saying, "Okay..." softly and sweetly before grabbing Aymin's hand and letting her guide it.

Baby Genome followed obediently, looking around at what it would before its dreary eyes nearly drooped completely. It had seen bits and pieces of the town and wanted to know more about it, but knew that it was drained for the moment. It needed to sleep before it could do anything else, and sleep was going to come to it whether it wanted it or not. It stood and waited for Aymin to show it what to do, since it wasn't exactly certain of what that was. Sleep was sleep, no matter where it happened, and fatigue was fatigue, no matter when it came.

Baby Genome nodded its head, understanding a little bit. It was only after being presented with a something to sleep on that it took to it and pressed its naked body upon the warmth of the couch, nuzzling it happily. Baby Genome scrunched up, curling into a fetal position that seemed comfortable and quite quickly became unconscious. It didn't look like it was a light sleep, either, so Aymin could maneuver how she liked without waking it up. With that, Baby Genome went to dream land... If it had any dreams, that is.

Baby Genome, after being kindly taken in by a nice hedgehog lady the previous night, had dreams that unlocked much of the basic potential hidden within its being. How to talk, how to understand emotion, and general knowledge were just a few. The naked, genitalless, gray-skinned, tribal marking tattooed person walked all throughout the Bay, feeling connected to it. When it came across people it had never seen before, it rushed over to them and waved. "Hello!" Baby Genome seemed happy to see signs of life after gaining inner wisdom.

Baby Genome, the adult-ish childlike person continued to show friendly and welcoming expressions with the face and body language, as it had learned in the dreams and from the hedgehog. Curious, the fairly ignorant being looked around with a bright-eyed interest at everything, wanting to take in the sights of the new people and their doings. "Who are you?" Baby Genome asked. "What's that?" it inquired specifically to MA-A8813. "Are you guys..." Baby Genome struggled with the word, babbling incoherently like a babe to itself before continuing, "... Friends?!"

Baby Genome looked puzzled, yet kept a friendly expression. "Close... Friends?" Unfortunately, Baby Genome's recent creation and conscious awareness did not bring about many complexities such as relationships, as they were unnecessary to it immediately. However, after being exposed to it, the markings on its body began to glow, and it understood what 'close friends' meant after that. "Oh... I get it." Whilst glowing, MA-A8813 began to speak things beyond Baby Genome's inherent potential, and so it knew nothing of what it spoke. "I have no idea what you said!" It smiled warmly. To Stephen, who was looking at a baby-like adult, it said, "I was just born yesterday!"

Baby Genome nodded profusely to MA-A8813, still smiling innocently. "Yep! I can only understand what is within me, because I'm a..." Baby Genome started to babble incoherently in the ancient tongue of the babes, then looked at MA-A8813 as if expecting it to understand. "Whatever a human can do, I can do, but I don't learn, I unlock innate inherent information from my DNA!" Somehow, Baby Genome knew that much, but that was because it knew everything about itself, even if it couldn't express it in language beyond babble yet. "My name is Baby Genome! I was created out of this world. Nice to meet you!"

Baby Genome thought for a moment, still glowing. "I... Unlock potential." It pointed to the glowing markings on its body, "Which gives me knowledge. Like remembering, but..." It trailed off into babe-like babble. Still innocently inquisitive of MA-A8813, it said in response, "I was created to be alive. Everything that I unlock is meant to help me enjoy living that much more!" After saying that, the markings stopped glowing and Baby Genome stick its index finger in its mouth. "I do human things. Whatever human can do, so can Baby Genome! All the information of a human, but locked inside..."

Baby Genome blinked, not really knowing what MA-A8813 meant. But then, it started to glow, which seemed to happen when it was exposed to new situations or information. Then, it understood, smiling warmly and giving a pleasant expression with its eyes as it said, "Everything Baby Genome needs... Is inside. I do not need to learn or extend capacity, I have to... Be exposed to it." Baby Genome turned to Galatea, nodding its head. "Or, 'remember' it." After speaking, Baby Genome stopped glowing and heaved a heavy sigh. "When I glow, I unlock, but that takes energy from me!" It sat down and sighed, letting the other two talk.

Baby Genome swung its legs at the table, looking at the foods. It remembered from the dream it had that not all food was good, so it wouldn't eat just yet. "Don't worry," Baby Genome said to MA-A8813, "Baby Genome needs to unlock that as well." It touched one of the foodstuffs on the table and glowed a bit, then stopped quickly. Smiling, it began to eat -- a nice, juicy, healthy fruit.

Baby Genome ate its fruit happily, barely noticing -- or rather, barely understanding -- that MA-A8813 was rude... And what being rude was. It was a more complex gesture, and upon hearing the word, it began to glow. "Rude?" Thinking, Baby Genome teared up a little, but then its eyes dried. "Perhaps that is something you learned that you should watch out for." Baby Genome finished the fruit. "So will I! Baby Genome accepts your apology!" Rudeness was something it was capable of unlocking, but it didn't want to... Yet, it needed the information. That aside... It returned attention to Galatea. "I was born... Here. Out of this world. Rainbow Bay. It created me... Or, someone created me out of it. But who...?" It began to babble in baby.
